Illinois medical marijuana card wait time

This really doesn't have anything to do with our current wait times, but I wanted to share it here just for comparison purposes.

The other night I happened to talk to someone who received their Illinois MMJ card in 2016. He'd gone through the process at The Healing Clinic, same as I did. We were comparing our experiences, and everything was identical except for one important factor: he received his card from the state in just under 30 days, and I'm now at day 81 and still waiting.
At $100 per year with one check every 3 years, while they say $40 for for 4 checks a year is OK for OAPP, there is no excuse for the 90 day waiting period.
They could afford to hire more if that's the problem.

Those of you that are now getting to visit dispensaries... if you think about it, ask them if they know when Provisional will start? Someone earlier here heard the dispensaries were recently invited to a webinar on the new rules... I’d love to know if that has taken place yet, and if so- what any news is. Thanks-

First trip to the dispensary was amazing.

2 disposable pens
Mints
Pack of 5 prerolls.
Ooh, mints :)

I found some mints that I really liked at a recreational dispensary in CA, and I'm really hoping someone in IL is making something similar. But I've been looking at the online menus at the nearby dispensaries around Chicago and haven't found anything like them. (As I understand it, growers and manufacturers can't ship across state lines because of the federal prohibition, so everything has to be grown and made in the state where it's sold. So the ones I got in CA won't be available here.)

Is there a product name on the mints you found? And which dispensary had them?

I called a dispensary here and asked what they knew about the status of Provisional. Basically it sounds like there is more clearificafion that needs to be authored in the rules. The dispensary is hoping to know more by mid-Jan. Their guess is if everything falls in line, Provisional might be available in Feb.

My card should be in hand the second week of Feb, so I’m giving up on the idea of being able to use the Provisional access here... :(

Yep, it’s getting close. I’ve got one day on you, when I get mine I’ll be posting. Did they say what day you were sent to the printer?
No, I haven't talked to anyone at IDPH in a few weeks. I spent a whole week trying to get them on the phone last time I had a question. If I started calling today to ask about where I am in the process, I'd probably have the card in hand before I got anyone on the phone :(

I did ask. Word of mouth is they are expecting forms available in Feb. But that's just what they had heard.

"Forms"? 2 1/2 months to make forms? It's not that difficult. We submit an online app. They issue a provisional QP# in a letter. Dispensary checks it against system to see if still valid and checks ID. Otherwise it is the exact same process as other patients. The rules and record-keeping are the same, according to their admin rules published 4 weeks ago.

Jerking people around that have documented medical conditions with the prospect of provisional access beginning of December and then pulling it away just out of reach week after week is demoralizing and cruel. On top of their arbitrary 90 day wait-and-suffer policy.

FWIW I'm on day 63 and expect the holidays to extend my wait-and-suffer to end of January at least.
