Illinois medical marijuana card wait time

What's it matter how long you wait. After I got my card I still got banned from working. Unless I take painkillers and have no weed in my system, well I got banned from even being a janitor with companies like manpower and prologistix for 6 months. Sorry but then the dispense is charging more than double the price for the same bud and also I am going to get fined and in my case go to jail if I were to like liberty haze and attempt to grow my own bush at home. So I am not allowed to work. I get ridiculous prices. Then if I were to choose to have my baby bush at home I still go to jail. It's even more frustrating when they decide to couple my hopes of liberation with a tax to drive. What a headache!

So I wanted to Post a note here more for Those who might know someone who Might apply in the Future or Those who could only afford or chose to pay for one year. I got My Renewal Form in The Mail. I can only Renew for a Year at a Time. I thought Since Doctor Approval was good for 3 years, I could pay for 2 more Years. The Letter only has pricing option for one year. I Originally wanted to do the 3 year, but had Already spent $385 just to Apply.View attachment 4251170
Didn't you get your card just recently?

Sorry your life isn't perfect.

But if you already have your card, why are you here?

This reminds me of an old saying:

"Perfect is the enemy of good."

Even if it was recreationally legal, your work could still decide that they have a policy. If it’s that much of a headache, or your that unhappy with it, don’t do it. Yeah, painkillers are bad, but not having a job, being in jail, is WAY worse.

You can only go 3 years on a Dr's certification. You've already used up one of those years so 3 years wouldn't be an option. Whether or not you can select 2 years online I don't know, but if you can it will be $100/yr.

I realize my earlier comment came across as a little bit facetious. I'm not trying to troll you or make your headache any worse, so here's something positive instead.

Even though I don't believe the IDPH and the Illinois MMJ program are the cause of the problems you describe, there is a complaint department there that would be a more appropriate venue for you to vent:

$15-$30/8th on the street? You must get some pretty crappy street weed. It's magically $1 less than the exact same price for anything I came close to finding.

I liked it. Too many people don't bother considering the ramifications of getting a card or read the law before getting it and then complain after the fact.
We're in a pilot program. Nationally legalization is pre-infancy. People can't expect this to happen without some bumps. Removing the stigma and brainwashing of the last 100 years is going to take a while.
Legal anything has rarely meant you can test positive and keep your job. For a while the fad was to fire people for testing positive for nicotine until that proved to be a problem with unemployment numbers. Unemployment numbers isn't going to be an issue for 25,000 active patients many of whom are too sick to be employed in the first place. Maybe allowing employers to fire for testing positive for cannabis will change after legalization and enough people lose their job for trying it a week ago. But that's not now. Don't get a card unless you know your job is safe or you're so sick a job is the least of your worries.

I do find it odd how a large majority of patients have used cannabis illegally at some point in life and managed to keep jobs. I never considered taking a job that drug tested even after I quit because I've always seen it as an infringement.

You need to check with the laws around this each state has different laws around that issue if im not mistaken in illinois you cant be fired for having weed in your system if you have your card and doctors prescription but the companys can deny you certain positions if safety is involved or they get federal money cause weed is still illegal on the federal level

Not true at all. They can absolutely fire you for weed in your system, card or not.

You are mistaken. You can't be fired for having a card. You can be fired for testing positive even in a zero tolerance situation (which most likely means you can have a card but you can't use it). There is no protection in IL, and there probably won't be with legalization, at least for a while.

No it's not. And especially not for random testing after pre-employment testing.

Sitting in the holding queue now. Took 38 calls to get into queue. How long are you guys usually waiting on hold to speak to someone?

Calling over and over, back to back, doesn’t usually work. I usually call 4-5 times, and if I get the busy signal I stop and start either 30 or 60 minutes later. And usually goes through. I think they have certain times of the hour open for calls...just my guess tho.

Well, the jokes on them, I’m disabled and have nothing better to do than sit here and call them nonstop.

depends on the job , I drove a truck for 10 years and was tested /UA/ often. I didn't mind , but I didn't use any drugs either. I was o.k. being at a concert and taking one hit , if it was passed my way. I have seen some crazy truck wrecks ...in that case , not an infringement

So apparently my application made on October 5th hasn’t even been looked at yet according to the woman I talked to. She didn’t inspire much confidence though, to be honest.
