If you were wrongly convicted of a serious crime...

i would say in all honesty getting into gangs/politics in the joint would be a huge mistake....if you go in thinking that you need a gang for protection ..they will have you, they will protect you..then they will tell you to stab someone..if you refuse..you will be stabbed..just don't start shit, don't take shit and do your own time and things will work out just fine 99.9% of the time

Gangs & gambeling & drugs are the biggest pitfalls.
Thats why many inmates try to get a good job while in prison. Helps pass the time & gives them something constructive to do, like making license plates.
I've seen 'lifers' literally 'worked to death' in the PIA factories, no age discrimination in prison, & no retirement!

I guarantee you, OJ is meek as a mouse in there. There are a lot of guy's that would earn a ton of 'points' buy notching OJ. I know his head is looking left & right more than when we was running a screen play at USC!
Being famous can be worse than being nobody inside. They will try to "tax" you for money. You'll owe the "shot caller" of your tier, just for stepping out of your cell in the morning, onto his tier! And if you want a cell change, you gotta go thru him also.

Good luck

Lol I'm glad nobody ever tried to play me like that. We don't have the death penalty here, so that shit would not have went over well.

Like I said, being a nobody inside, is best!
Most inmates don't have any resources or support group, & they know it. So it's not worth their trouble.
So a guy like OJ, looks too sweet to pass up!
I'll bet the guy that beat Jeffery Dalhmer to death with a mop handle, still hasen't paid for a cigarette!

I had resources, no support group and the worst attitude you're likely to run into. I got my hole card pulled within ten minutes of being on the block, by the shot caller. A mini pull that didn't go well for him at all. He tried me one more time, a little more escalated, but he learned fast that he was playing with fire and might just find his punk ass dead. Nobody said a cross word to me after that, in fact they followed me around like the fucking pied piper. Every scared little white dude that hit the block tried to stay in my vicinity because the gangstas stayed the fuck out of it. That's whats up.

You ran their car!
If not gangs, most form tight little clique's or "cars". Their own support groups.
It's really hard to run completely alone

Yeah it is. My car was more like a fucking semi truck with my flock of scared white ducklings migrating to wherever I settled.
All this talk about the bad side of it tho, and no mention of the good. A few of the most fun times I ever had were locked up. Watching a super pedo get his skull broken by an apple in a towel (who knew an apple could break skull? not me), girl fights in county lockup, holy shit epic. The females will fuck you up way faster than the males. I made a couple of lifelong best friends who I would trust with my life and my secrets. The time a bugaboo scooped a turd out of his toilet with an empty irish spring box and grenade tossed it out into the middle of the pod, narrowly missing a CO and the lockdown and shake downs that resulted. "God damn it we're gonna find out who threw this shit!!" Man, good times. Punking the meanest CO they had in that fucking place and daring him to retaliate, then watching others repunk his fat ass because he didn't do shit to me. Being taken for special freight elevator rides, cuffed behind my back to the rail in the freight elevator and beaten senseless with phone books...man I could go on and on. There are some really good times to go with the bad.

That was you?!lol!

Yeah, I could say a lot of stuff, but the statute of limitations hasen't run out yet!lol! It went both ways.

If you really pissed the co's off, all they had to do was un-key your cell door at night & walk off, and let you try to get some sleep!

I would've slept like a baby. Too stupid to know better back then, plus my bunkee was afraid of his own shadow and would have yipped like a coyote if anyone came near. My statute of limitations is passed, I haven't broken a law besides pot in ten years or more. Sometimes I speed 5 over. That's it.

Causeing a lockdown & shakedown were highly frowned upon by both staff & inmates.
The staff would use it as an excuse to take it out on any inmates that really pissed them off & tear their shit up!
Or worse yet, tear every one else's shit up & leave your cell completely alone! Explain that to the shot caller!lol!

If there were any prison factory workers in your building & they missed work because you thru a turd, they would all be at your cell door after unlock, wanting a days pay from you! We might not know who thru the turd, but they will find out!:hump:

Lol. nobody, and I do mean nobody, fucked with that particular bug. He was very good size and truly as crazy as a loon. He would routinely throw his food until he got hauled off, then when he came back he'd tell me how he had to "eat mah doodoo to stay alive". Even after I told him, throw the shit and eat the food, he did it his way. When he threw the shit that day it was different, just lobbing it out into the middle of the pod like a grenade. Not his usual wait until the CO is near his door and start flinging it at them. He would have fits and tear a bible to shreds with his teeth like a rabid dog. He never belonged in population. But I promise, the toughest shot caller you know wouldn't fuck with that cat. Different realities.
When the goon squad came for him they usually rolled about ten deep. Think retard strength.

That was kinda how Bubbles rolled on his own, he was just too big to fuck with unless you were gonna kill him. And I think a couple tried!
You could talk to Bubbles & tell we wasn't right. I don't think he belonged in genpop either! But theres a lot of inmates that sit & talk to themselves. That place will do it to you! Had me doing it several times!
Crazy place, prison. Closest thing to hell I could imagine, besides my time in Viet Nam. Like a bunch of wild dogs, feeding on each other!

One time, when I heard an inmate had a problem with me & I needed to get his mind right. I just went into his cell, while everyone was watching, and started whispering. Within 2 minutes he was begging me to leave him alone! Never underestimate everyone elses paranoia! I just quitely reminded him of all his enemies, & what they would be thinking we were talking about? I told him I'd drop a dime on him!

i meant to talk to o.j. to get off the serious charge. he sort of might have got away with a double murder there. he's only in jail for acting a fool now.
