If you could live anywhere in the U.S...

I am looking around the country for a place to move to in the future.I want the equity in my California property to go as far as possible , and if you really look into it there are so many great cities , all with their unique ups and downs. Here is my list of top 5 places I am considering:

1. Phoenix,AZ area: Yes I know it gets hot.I am going to visit a few times over the next year and scope it out.I would live 30+ minutes away from Phoenix in a nice suburb . You can buy a life there for 400k that would cost you 1 mil+ anywhere worth living in California.

2. Seattle , WA area:Great City with great surrounding communities. If you can handle the 300 days a year of rain or cloudy weather it is a paradise.
The nice areas are getting expensive, and the bad areas are getting worse.

3. Boulder, CO area:A very up an comming area, great weather almost all year (leaning on the colder side ), very althetic and health minded area.Property is only getting more expensive there.Too cold for a swimming pool though .

4. Boston,MA area: Old town with a lot of history, becomming a very young city with many younger professionals gathering there.Great nightlife, lots to do.

5.) Portland , OR area: Great hippy-ish town ( probably a little too liberal for me ) with a great atmosphere, and a hell of a nice place to live. Not too many houses with swimming pools . The one thing I would be afraid of is that Portland si not THAT big a city and finding a good job may be hard.

Please provide info on these areas if you know, or suggest places I have overlooked!

Peace:peace:

Santa Barbara California is the greatest place on earth... LOL.... but it cost a lot of $$$$$...

Being near the ocean is priceless!!!

How about Wyoming? It is not near the water but I have always liked the country feel... even in their "big" cities..

depending on your personal tastes, the Southeast has some great areas to live in. A recent article on Yahoo, someone talking about the housing market ranked Atlanta, GA...Greensboro, NC... and Raleigh,NC in the top 10 cities to own homes. Charlotte,NC fell 11th. The cost of living out here is moderately low compared to alot of other places. Dont quote me, but i think the medium home price in and around Charlotte is $216,000, and the avg sq/ft is near 2200.
Food for thought

Where the hell do you go when a hurricane comes? Is it like in the Bahamas where the natives tie themselves to palm trees and ride it out?

The dream would be to have a little island, good growing weather would be awesome, the island would have to be a good size and be growers paradise. It would be welcome to other growers looking to seek asylum although limited places would have to be enforced.

I'd bring fdd, skunkushybrid, smokere, and anyone else that ones to come.

Simple living without the shit and smog the real world throws at you.

Ya ya ya ....That's one of my concerns.Other states run diff. programs with their medical MJ programs, and some states like Arizona have no medical MJ program.....I don't know man.I haven't made any decisions yet.

Honestly I think the feds are going to disrupt the whole medical initiative soon anyway .

phoenix is filled with redneck republican cocksuckers. Go to portland, you're not far off from vancouver, which is the epicenter of mj for north america. Also, you have worldclass skiing/hiking/snowmobiling/whatever. Portland kicks ass.

It's not like I am happy about it.I seriously doubt anything will happen in the next 12 months or so, but I do see trouble 18-24 months away.As patients or medical marijuana supporters you can write to politicians and peacably demonstrate. But this country has really gone down the dumper.I wouldn't put it past the pharma industry and the congressmen/women whose voted they own.The validity of state's rights to break federal laws are in question, and it's going to the supreme court. We'll see how that pans out....there is just A LOT of money from the pharma industry going to getting rid of medical MJ.It makes about 50% of their manufactured drugs useless...

" Have restless leg syndrome? Smoke a fatty ! "

At the moment the drug companies are trying to make sure that IF medical MJ is allowed to continue, they want to outlaw smoking it, and have it allowed in pill form only ( so they can continue to make the profits from it.)

Hopefully in the end right will prevail. But it's gonna be a close one.

Only thing that scares me about living there is:

- Portland is a fairly small town and I am afraid finding a GOOD job in my line of work may be too difficult ( specialized profession)Other than that it looks awesome.I think I have to live within 45 min of a major city with atleast 1 mil. people.
