I am looking around the country for a place to move to in the future.I want the equity in my California property to go as far as possible , and if you really look into it there are so many great cities , all with their unique ups and downs. Here is my list of top 5 places I am considering:
1. Phoenix,AZ area: Yes I know it gets hot.I am going to visit a few times over the next year and scope it out.I would live 30+ minutes away from Phoenix in a nice suburb . You can buy a life there for 400k that would cost you 1 mil+ anywhere worth living in California.
2. Seattle , WA area:Great City with great surrounding communities. If you can handle the 300 days a year of rain or cloudy weather it is a paradise.
The nice areas are getting expensive, and the bad areas are getting worse.
3. Boulder, CO area:A very up an comming area, great weather almost all year (leaning on the colder side ), very althetic and health minded area.Property is only getting more expensive there.Too cold for a swimming pool though .
4. Boston,MA area: Old town with a lot of history, becomming a very young city with many younger professionals gathering there.Great nightlife, lots to do.
5.) Portland , OR area: Great hippy-ish town ( probably a little too liberal for me ) with a great atmosphere, and a hell of a nice place to live. Not too many houses with swimming pools . The one thing I would be afraid of is that Portland si not THAT big a city and finding a good job may be hard.
Please provide info on these areas if you know, or suggest places I have overlooked!
Peace
