Want to add a 600watt cob panel for my grow.
As far as I know, most grower have red light for flower. Could you pls explain the differences between the typical red, blue and the white.

Bonjour

Hey All,

What size heat sink would I need for a single cxb3590 run at about 62 watts?

My plan is to start with 4 COBS run on a 240-1400. I'd like the heat sinks and cobs to be separate, so that I can adjust their placement relative to each other.

Do they make a dimmable 240-1400?

I will likely put an 80mm fan on each unit, but I'd like the heat sinks to be able to run passively safely, should the fan fail.

I'd appreciate any ideas about low weight ways to connect the modules.

Also, Growmau5 posted a list of parts for his build at one point, and I can't seem to find it. Please repost if any of you know where it is.

Thank you kindly!
Bonjour
It will be 50w each...but why 4 on a driver made for 5 cxb3590?
And I guess almost all US diyers are going to www.heatsinkusa.com to buy some hs (I can't remember the profile...5.88 I guess...and 10in long for each cob to be semi passive...but wait for US guy answers!)
I done it...1cob 1 hs (10x6.6x1.4in 14 fins each with a 120mm fan @4.5V on each)
It is better for spread and if you grow different strains at the same time it is very useful!
Then when I will have enough to have one over each sq/ft I will build a kind of big hs holder almost the size of the box to put every hs on it...!
It is smart...you don't think hps!!...why, now that we have multiple emitters, put all our light sources at the same place!???
Imo the best way to use cob is to divide the grow room by the number of cob and place one at the center of each area!
I do like to know if someone is not agree with me on the spread and why it would be better to keep all the cob on the same hs in the middle of the growbox!??

The difference is...good panel with multiple spectrum cost a leg...add an eye too
Good cob panel are ok in price...and produce the same or even more top quality weed! (1.4/1.6gpw)
In the cob you have a mix of all those colors...more blue in 5000/6500ºk and more red in 2700/3000ºk...that's why many choose 3500/4000ºk for entire grow!
No need to use diode with cob...less work to do. ..very easy to build!
Go watch any grow journal and you will know why so many people use cob now...for the quality of the grow and for yield of course (less heat = easy growing! )

Good day
Thanks for your quick reply.

too bad I know this too late.I almost got all my lights ready with 600w mh/hps
its gonna be total 1800watt for lights. two 600w air cool has arrived. I will have 2 600w mh for veg. add another 600 when I flip 12/12, so I still need to get another 600watt light to get
I heard growers recommend cob over 3w 5w chips. I was thinking just have it with red( I heard led get good quality than HID)
After I saw some panels with white light, to guy from the store told me 400w COB equal 1000W hps, is that for real??
you would recommend 3500/4000K white light over red? even I dont plan use this for veg?

This is the exact model I can get here.
http://www.amazon.com/eyes-light-Plant-Indoor-Light/dp/B00GNBLYCS
I can get it with 300, do you think it worth to buy?

happy grow

I have to agree...this is shitty light!
Try tastyled /pacific light concept/gogreen led/Johnson grow light or heavenbright...some of the owners are members here!
If you buy one panel from one of those companies you will throw your hps after the first try...you are lucky because in a year or two nobody will use hps anymore...
Just ask to yourself : what do I prefer 0.7gpw with hps or 1.4gpw with cob (and nothing else! ) it is the good question!

I agree with ja-cob ;-). The guys from those companies are here helping us build lights and for those who aren't otherwise capable, selling quality lights that are well built and productive.

I wouldn't do business with anyone but these guys unless I absolutely had to. Their contributions to this forum make this site the best IMO.

Jus sayin..

I have used a bunch of similar units (different spectrum otherwise same) they are all sitting in a junk pile being recycled for parts
Thanks that you told me this. I thought the price is ok, this is the only product I can find around here.
Im thinking maybe build a diy one, still need more research before doing it.

Just check out thoese companies you recommned. Their lights look monster, but also really expensive.
btw Im Asia, Those unit from US probably cost another 200 for shipping all the way here.
Do I get discount for RIU member LOL

Maybe build one myself will be a lot of cheaper isnt it?

Im sure I do want to use LED, but man....I already spent around 1500 on my new grow equipments.
Thats pretty much all my budge for my new setup.
I prefer 600watt unit 400watt at least, but I can not afford one with big panel right now.
Im sure I will use led for my future grow.

You dont use HID anymore? I thought HPS cover yield, led improve quality.
so I was thinking use both. what do you think?

I'm interested in vero18 3000k
I wanted to put in 80x80cm:
2 cxb3000 bin AD (1400ma) + 5 vero 18 3000k (700ma) only flowering

CXB the two have in my possession, do you agree with this combination or the 4000k would be more suitable?
