Tuck em. If you have some rubber bands LIGHTLY put them over the stem to hold it in place? Or a zip tie/twist tie. Wouldn't defoliate at all in 12/12, some say right before harvest is okay but do I really want to chance stunting them producing those last minute oils?
Cool! I just keep foldinn tuckin! I guess that's the major problem with indica doms inside

Its alright but not in Area51 class! I would buy 4 Area 51 RW150 too light your area! Its the same price as the K5 1000. The main problem with The K5 series is the footprint . It will not cover the area it claims. More units = more light where u need it! Stay away from Blackdog! Buy Kind K5 before Blackdog
Yep, I agree. After doing lots more research I've decided on 4 of the new RW150s when they come out. Can't wait :-)

Hello. First time grower/poster (so sorry if I post in the wrong area. I have a small grow going for personal consumption (two grows). Acapulco gold / trans Siberian auto (castle seeds). Both in FFOF in 5gal pots. Have been growing the AC for a week (from germ) under 125w cfl (about 8 in from plant, and just germed the AC gold yesterday. My question is about lighting though. I just purchased a KIND K3 L450 from MBFERTS.com (585.00 best price I could find anywhere). Should be here by Thursday. Has anyone ever used KIND or the L450 in particular? Researched LEDs for a few months and decided to go with the KIND. Good choice? My grow space is 20"x36"x62". I was going to go with the KIND L300, but feared the recommended footprint may be exaggerated as LED co's tend to do that. Since the 450 was the same price at MBFERTS as the 300 was everywhere else, the 450 seemed like a great deal. Thanks for the input! Also, anything to worry about going cfl:led mid-veg?

Are KIND units quality units?
If you researched for months, shouldn't you know the answers to these questions?

It looks like an Apollo 8 design. The Kind website doesn't disclose which brand of diodes they use. It's safe to assume it's just epi-whatever diodes used in Chinese imports. (Kind isn't averse to tooting its own horn. If the diodes were something to brag about, I'm sure they'd hype that as a selling point.).

Appears to be a rebranded Chinese import sold at a premium with on-shore support. You paid $2.20 per watt. You could have had an Area51 for $2.70 per watt. Lifetime warranty, planned upgrades at cost as LED technology evolves. No mystery diodes and "secret sauce" proprietary spectrum, they publish the Cree diode you're buying along with the spectrum.

Your Kind will grow well. I have 3-4 Blackstars which are rebranded Chinese imports. They do ok. They run hot and I need more watts per sq ft than I'd expect from LED. But, they do ok. You'll probably have the same experience.

I did research for about a week and found that I'd be much better off running 4 a51 RW150s instead of the Kind, which is actually a little less expensive than the Kind 1000. The Kind is a cheap Chinese LED with lots of cool gadgets and stuff built in to try and get you to buy it. The footprint isn't nearly what they claim. With the 4 RW150s I can spread them out to exactly the right distance.

What I don't like is having to move every light up and down so I've come up with a design for a motorized vertical light mover than will move all the lights together with a remote. Believe it or not, this will cost less than $150 to build. I'll post the design when I'm done because it will be able to be used on any hood(s).

Has anyone ordered from a51s new site? I see they're old site you can make an account and see your order status. I just ordered from they're new site and that's why I'm asking. It was all through PayPal and I didn't have to make an account or anything. Also I can't see my order status. I just wanna make sure I ordered from the right site.

Yes, please do share your vertical mover design. That's my biggest issue with using multiple lights

I def saw the area51 just wasn't sure it would be enough. And it seemed a expensive for 150w. The L450 is 270 and not much more $. Are KIND units quality units?

Hold on. I agree that price per watts is better with the A51. I am usin the K5 750 and the buds that it building are gonna be very good. Footprint keeps it out of discussion in opinion , and price! Oh and the KIND Blues seem to keep em from strechin as much as the kind from what I can tell.

Yeah the site just seemed kind of sketchy compared to the other site. Maybe because I did it from my phone so it was a mobile version.

I researched for few months, but don't have any practical experience. That's where "cordial" (obviously not you sir) ppl like jimmyindica come in and give some real insight, and not take the opportunity to be a smart ass to me. And the ratio is more 2.16/watt : 2.8/watt.

From all the reviews and because these and the K5 1000s are sold out everywhere these are probably going to be excellent lights. But, I've seen the footprint comparisons. The Kind lights aren't square. Covering a 4 x 4 area with 4 evenly-spaced RW-150s is going to give you a very uniform footprint. It's very similar to the Apollo AT600, which is a highly regarded LED light, but at $2,449, it's a little out of my budget.

A Kind K5 XL1000 runs $1,695
4 a51 RW150s comes to $1,680 ($420 ea) if you pre-order them now. I think they make deals when buying multiple led lights so this price might remain the same.

I'm going to do a SCROG with 4 plants in a RDWC UC system and I'll post the pics of the grow. Can't start building for a few months though. Have to wait for a little money that's coming my way. It's giving me time to do lot's of research before I actually bought anything. I've asked some very important questions and got some really good answers from the community. I was originally all about the Kind K5 XL1000, but the more research I did convinced me that the area 51s are really good lights and have been out for a while. It's really proven itself as a really good LED light.

So, I didn't mean to speak badly about the Kind lights, it's just information I've picked up in researching all the different LEDs out there. This is nowhere close to the original plan I started with and my opinions are just based on the research I did.

The K5 750 is 1150 and the 1000 is 1450 at growershouse, But def go with the 4 RW for the extra 230. I am not gonna talk about A51 and Kind capability until this run is done!, But I can tell you one thing! People might be alittle surprised when they see the comparison. Until KIND fixes the footprint issue? they will be second class! Its just not a smart move to fill a 2ft 6 x 3 ft 6 with 430 watts light or 650 watts for a 3ft x 4ft like the 1000 really is! I fell for the footprint they said the thing covered!
