Apparently you forgot to read the next sentence.. You go ahead and grow with you $600 light from Area 51 and get 130w of actual power and get your 3-6 oz, ill spend 600 bucks on a 420w CREE ufo from BSLED and get my 12+ oz... And im the idiot who says a watt is a watt WHEN I COMES TO FINAL WEIGHT YES IT MATTERS
I don't even know where to start with you. You have a lot of learning to do man.
First off, what does you LED grow look like??? Lets see how good your cheap "BSLED" lights are?
Lights like Apache and area51 can't be found over seas actually made by some cheap Chinese company then resold in the US for huge mark ups by anyone with an alibaba account. They are american made, deigned and assembled. With cree or even better chips(apache). They won't have some untrustworthy factory produce their products because they will steal and copy it all...remember hydrogrow? Anyways, you can keep thinking that the good american companies actually steal from the Chinese.
Watts are not all created equal. You need to learn about what light is and how it drives photsyntisis. You only know about power consumption. Well guess what...output of photons is the actual goal of giving light plant. And 1w from diode "x" doesn't have the same output of light as 1w from diode "y". The best way to look at how much light is actually being emitted is using PAR reading because they are the most accurate and unbiased measurements for light. Watts are just an expression of how efficently the output is being achieved. So I could careless what units or chips you think are good as long as they perform in the end. And performance is a reflection of output(umol)...not input/draw(watts).
I feel like I type the same things to every person that acts like this guy. They all think they have some secret that no one knows or something but all of those roads have already been ventured down before and aren't the dominated theory/lights for a reason. Guys and companies like this eventually put up or shut up. They will talk shit for a while then go back to the hole they crawled out....so what's you'r plan RB1956? I don't mean to be rude like this but you are very hostile in the way you act/speak, specially for someone whole thinks they are apart of this forums community(I've never/don't seen you). I'm not saying that BSLED is total BS, and I am open to all companies that perform...but I would like to see how you have been doing with them and see some proof of why you are so anti everything...you must have a awesome garden with those BS lights.
I repost his about every other day it seems but explains how I think and think others should look at any light(LED, HPS, florescence).
Here is how I look at LED's in order of importance.
1) What is the par output in umol's (most companies don't give one on their website and that just pisses me off)...minimum 700umols@12" is the lowest end of my attention radar. 1000hps's puts out 1800umol@24" so that is my real goal. Yellow(lumens) light that is not all absorbed(wasted) is still in the par spectum, so 1800umols LED PAR(wavelength specific) output would be more to the plants than 1800umols PAR(the whole mess) from hps.
2) Wattage to achieve output. (first total unit draw, then diode wattage and brand)
3) Coverage size and umol dispersion over the area (only strong in center or is it spread out)
4) Spectrum/wavelengths
5) Price
6) BS advertising/company image/knock offs on the market. (maybe they are the knock offs?)
Just the ways I personally judge all of them.
