when i trim or top even my tomatoes the dropped leafs turn brown on my compost heap really rapidly, IN THE SUN.OK Doc diplomat, I'll settle for that! LOL
But you'll never convince me that Bucky and Dumbwell were right, they claim their leaves turn brown in a matter of days after they trim them, LOL I'm sorry, it just doesn't happen! LOL
but broken leafs in my growroom stay green untill i schlep them to my compost heap. when i pinch off otherwise healthy leafs from my undergrowth, if i drop on on the floor it will stay green even if i dont see it for weeks between the bubble buckets. i seen it myself.
dried crumbly long dead leafs still dark olive green despite a week on the concrete floor of my growroom.
when i was a lad i had a school project to press and dry various leafs in various colour stages. when pressed and dried they retained most of their previous colour sespite 3 weeks in between the pages of my dictionary.
even dried roses retain most of their original colour if you dry them right.
it depends on the leaf, how it fell, and what the conditions are where it dries out.
