If buffet wanted his secretary to pay the same income taxes as he does...

... out of envy...
you still buy into that romney canard? you got a case of romneymania?

it is desire for fairness, not envy.

if you get to define our motives, than i will define your motives. you defend romney because you have an underwear fetish, specifically an unexplainable feeling of arousal when you picture yourself rubbing on his magical mormon undergarments in a fit of passion.

yep, that's it.

Everybody pays 15% on capital gains. It is already fair.

How the hell the government has convinced you that raising taxes on anyone is fair is beyond me.

If you think the taxes are so unfair lets lower some of them.

You may want to take some of your own advice there. I own a small truck company and know all about the capital gains bs . 3 drivers and 4 trucks. I also work partime for another company (cheaper benefits ). I do not think getting taxed @ higher rates for sweat of your brow than the rate that money doing all the work is fair, period. It is lazy people and owners that are the whiners , not the people actually busting their ass and no... Long hours and stress do not count as busting your asses. I do both...ownership and investments are the easy part.

Willy, if you actually own a truck company you could be paying yourself exactly the same as warren buffet does and pay 15%.

You do realize that dont you?

more assumptions, eh?

the government need not convince me of anything. i convinced myself.

ya see, the other day i noticed that there was this guy making millions of dollars and paying almost half the rate that i did when i made peanuts.

and something inside me said, "hey, that doesn't seem right".

the government can take 22% of $20 million and that guy can still buy all the yachts he wants. the government can take 22% of my $30k and i can't afford to purchase health insurance.

in your mind, it is somehow fair that a millionaire be taxed at a lower rate than a guy making $30k. that says a lot.

You paid 6K and he paid 3 million but somehow it just isnt fair enough for ya... Somehow it would be all better if he ended up paying 6 million.

again, the dishonest "selective use of raw numbers" angle again.

le sigh.

how about i pay 22% and he pays 22%?

or i pay 14% and he pays 22%

oh, i forgot. speaking of proportionality is strictly reserved for when it suits your needs, like a food stamps debate.

I didnt really argue the proportionality in that thread, that was primarily someone else.

However, I still cannot follow the logic of your argument.

I am not required to use proportions for everything in life to be fair.

you're right, other people brought up proportionality in that debate. you spoke of how blacks have an "entitlement mentality" and simply sit around waiting for economic opportunity if i recall correctly.

if you still insist that you are unable to understand why i think it is absurd that a millionaire pays a lower rate than a guy making $30k, you will never get it.

And if you are unable to understand why I think that the extra 3 million dollars in this case would be much better invested by the millionaire into private industry than confiscated and squandered by the federal government then you will never get it.

I want freedom in the form of less taxes and regulation on everyone and you want fairness through higher taxation and regulation.

Seems pretty clear to me.

He paid tax on the money and used the loopholes that the politicians created. Do you begrudge him trying to keep more of his money? Would you like to tell me all of the wealthy democrats that send additional funds to the treasury?

I am not sure how the legal tax code created by politicians is somehow unfair and it is the rich's fault when the capital gains tax applies to everyone in America.

I am not sure how 1/2 of the population not paying federal income taxes yet demanding the rich pay more is somehow fair.

so you are probably a millionaire yourself?

unless they invest in stocks and get capital gains...

Or sell a house and make a profit from capital gains.

And please be clear... They dont have to pay way more taxes, they have to pay a higher percentage. Buffet paid a SHITLOAD more money in taxes than his secretary. Romney paid over 3 MILLION dollars in taxes last year. The rich are contributing the majority of the federal taxes in America and half the citizens pay NOTHING. Yet somehow this is still unfair?

you see, think it is just that rich people have a "fabulous" life!!! and everyone wants what they cant have...

i dont think it is fair that romney paid half of what he needs to pay in taxes...

rich people know the "ins" and "outs" of the trade, most dont...

Not even close.

Have you seen Hollywood lately? Bunch of rich miserable people.

If you think money buys happiness you might be in for a surprise.

you know live a wonderful life being moderately poor and getting through college. I am a humble person who has gone through some rough times...

happiness is an emotion, not a product or inventory at a store...

I am starting businesses because I like to work for myself and have decided to work less and enjoy life more due to the current political situation and that is both the Dem's and Republicans. Until Washington can show me some restraint I am not going to donate any more money to that shithole than possible.
