Nowhere near the truth bud, I have grown with both and the difference is night and day. Granted the T-5's are a little more pricey but you can find them almost as cheap as stick up 2 foot T-8s you get at wallyworld ( look on craigslist or ebay). Given you want more bang for your buck the T-5's will leave T-8's sitting in the dust, and for money vs output CFL's blow T-8's out of the water if done properly. T-8's are good for micro grows and when you dont have CFL's. The root structure you get from them is so slow growing and miniscule it takes you 2x-3x the vegging period to grow 1 foot plants and your still working with double the bulbs a T-5 setup would need. After having done both I dont even reccomend T-8s or T-12's and would even reccomend CFL's over them with the difference in growth I have seen. T-5's are outstanding for small grows and the price to lumen output is far greater than with any under cabinet style T-8's or T-12's hands down.t-5s are not worth the price tag i think get t-8s if you want the most lumen for your buck in a regular fl.you can get plain ol t-12s from ace hardware for 15 bucks plus bulbs 4 bucks. for the money they are better with the same par but t-8s put out much more par lumen...or so "they" say. 150s are ok but youll get crappy 4's feet size doesnt really matter its all about bud sites and promotion of those sites. you could have a 2 foot high but 4 foot square plant that rocks a 4 foot 2x2 plant. you can get 42 watt cfl from target for like 5 bucks that rock weight. you will just have to build a adjustable setup like in seemorebuds book to make it really rock weight for you and it takes daily adjustments.but well worth it especially the low electrical consumption
to be honest bro,i recommend you grow 2yea thanks nikk that does make since so how many plants do you think i can do with two 150w hps? and how tall shud i let them go before i fim it?
No, I meant that with some hunting you can find T-5's for the same price as a similar length T-8's at the walmart price through online retailers and ebay. Ideally a MH (Metal Halide/Ceramic Metal Halide) conversion would be your best bet for vegging but T-5's are good because they have such little heat issues and are extremely efficient for their size. If your working with bigger (400w,600w,1000w) systems get a conversion bulb and utilize your system to really crank out the veg cycle quickly and efficiently.thanks podunk for the save so i can get t-5s at walmart? thanks nikk so shud i fim thm evrytime they sprout new leaves or wait till it get some leaves first and also a question wud it be better for me to use t-5s for vegetation or the hps bulbs or does it matter?
Walmart has a decent selection of soils, not really too sure what they have thats the best but try and stay away from any sort of time released fertilizer soils. Miracle grow is rampant but not the best (aside from the blood and bone meal fertilizers) and they are way off ph wise to really run with, although you can have success with them. Sorry I dont have any dead on advice as far as that goes. As for the lights, so long as you have good airflow you can get them as close as a few inches being that they are lower powered setups.hey another question with my two 150 watt hps bulbs how far away shud i have them from the plant? and what numbered soil shud i get because i cant get the fowfarm soil unless i drive an hour away to get so wud be somthin good at walmart or home depot and what nute can i get at them places that i can put in the water or mix in the soil to make the best plant possible with them sources i need this help
You want to grow big killer crops but driving 1 hr to get quality things you need would be a issue? Think I will leave this one alone. Good Luckhey another question with my two 150 watt hps bulbs how far away shud i have them from the plant? and what numbered soil shud i get because i cant get the fowfarm soil unless i drive an hour away to get so wud be somthin good at walmart or home depot and what nute can i get at them places that i can put in the water or mix in the soil to make the best plant possible with them sources i need this help

Exactly right, couldn't have said it better myselffact is, its gona be harder to grow big bud on a small budget, investment and knowlage will get you bigger bud... doesnt matter what lights you get if you dont know how to grow.
You dont seem to be listening or your just not understanding. Without a set soil you cant go into nutes because you dont know what your base point is. You have lights, so we can give you advice on just that, lights. Until you pick a soil you wont get any nute recommendations since nobody knows what to adjust for in your soil. An hour really is not that far, I misread your other post thinking it said you didn't have access to it at all and thats why I suggested looking around. If its only an hour then go drive and get it. Your going to invest months into a grow and your willing to get sub grade starting equipment because of an hour of your time. I think you need to re-evaluate whether you want to grow and how much you really want to grow a nice plant cause if your willing to skimp on an hour in an effort to grow you will no doubt skimp on other areas and will never get the "high times centerfold" you want so bad.its not like that im not on a small budget but not on a huge one i was just trying to find another good soil so i didnt have to drive for 2 hours to get foxfarms i mean eventually i will end up that way and get it but other than that i keep asking what nutes i shud get but no answers stoner1984 can u help me with that?
Ok, here we go. Make the trip and get some Happy Frog and Ocean Forest. Mix then at a rate of 2/3 OF and 1/3 HF. This mix will feed them just fine for at least 3 or 4 weeks. Should get through the veg stage. So, no veg nutes needed. Get yourself a bottle of Advanced Nutrients Iguana Juice bloom, Technaflora Pura Vida (personally have not used. But have friends that really like it, simple.), just looking for a one dose does it all product. Uncle Ben says Dyna Grow veg/bloom contain all 16 goodies a plant needs to grow. Bet he is spot on. Lots of choices. If you can afford it get a small thing of Humboldt Myco Madness. Add a bottle of unsulphered blackstrap molases (this you get at wally world!) Feeding that good soil you traveled too get is as important as your plant nutes. A ph pen and your off and running on your first indoor grow. Simple is really better. I have tons of different things I have aquired over the years. Anymore though, just stick to the basics, treat them right and enjoy. The other things you can add later if you feel the need and as you learn. Indoors is a completely different beast from the outdoors. Indoors Mother Nature rarely is willing to help! LOL Keep it simple the first time. Dont rush, overwater or overfeed. Let your girls just do their thing. PEACEits not like that im not on a small budget but not on a huge one i was just trying to find another good soil so i didnt have to drive for 2 hours to get foxfarms i mean eventually i will end up that way and get it but other than that i keep asking what nutes i shud get but no answers stoner1984 can u help me with that?
Well said Pod.Exactly right, couldn't have said it better myself
