I stabbed my plants with a skewer and they loved it.

Lol. Clickbait. I really did this though. I was in some thread the other day and dont remember who said it or what thread it was but someone mentioned using something to stab through your soil all the way to the bottom of the pot to help get water and nutes and more oxygen evenly to the roots and figured I'd try this on my next feed. Well my feed was 4 days ago and I took a skewer and just stabbed the shit out of the soil and root ball in there. Prolly 25 times per plant. I could feel the roots break as I stabbed down and thought "great, I'm gonna kill these beauties." Its been 4 days after now and 2 waterings in and the girls look wayyy happier than they did previously (which was pretty damn happy) and I'm very surprised and pleased with the results. So props and thank you to whoever's idea I stole here. And maybe this will help out some other growers out there. Happy growing.

It's scary lol. But I felt the same way doing my 1st supercrop and it turned out great. These are the only women ive ever known that ENJOY being beat and broken. I feel like most of my growing skills are due to @hotrodharley. Thanks @hotrodharley.

I suggested this on a thread and people were “Don’t do that! It will hurt the roots.”

Wait until they’re in flower and you do it. A big whiff all of a sudden of what your finished bud will smell like.

Yeah!!! I am in flower and did this and I thought the plants were just being extra stinky lol. I hope the finished bud smells like that. It almost smelled like a dirty sock lol. I love the dirty dank smelling cannagoodness.

Mine is in flower, the compost in her pot started off pretty dense, and repeated top watering mixed into mostly bottom watering in addition to rain had made it worse. Now it's looser than it has been since I put it in. And I'm hoping my plant smells like what I smelled today, but some of it was the Bakerstreet 6 feet away, she's smelled since the first week of veg.

In my experience if you don’t screw it up your finished bud will smell exactly like it did when you cultivated it. I do this before every feed or watering. The pressure of a gallon of water can really pack the medium.

Yeah it was difficult to stick the skewer down. I didn't know it was so packed but it makes sense. More people need to be doing this probably. Pitter patter.

And the plants showed no ill effects from this did it? No drooping.

No drooping no nothing. The leaves actually seemed to perk up a bit actually. They just look happier.

I always do that... creates oxygen..especially at the root ball...also around the pot..figured it out while overwatering...2 for 19 cent.. tomato props....or after the lawn care service comes by, I get the things they put in the ground... stay off until dry etc...seems the roots kinda like a stab to regrow... tho I can honestly say I have stabbed them and saw leaves drop..2 for 1...cola branch prop and aerator...

Would be interesting seeing a full grow where this is done and having some plants not poked as a control group.

You would have to look closely at the blue pot. I use the black plastic pointer on it. I stab holes in my hempy bucket roots...I don’t get carried away...but yeah..there only plants.. not kids

That's why I like NFT, roots are basically exposed to air.

Would DWC systems perform any better by having a bit less water and more air after a large root mass has formed? Possibly with a small fan pushing air into buckets at a considerably higher volume than air stones... basically having the plants get oxygen from air instead of DO from water?

I realize it may sound stupid but I've got a lot to learn about plants still, haven't even started my first grow.

Just stabbed my ladies. Felt wrong doing it hearing the tearing of roots.

Hope this isn’t a joke and it outright kills your plants.

Air pumps and air stones add heat to your soup. Set your grow up to allow a waterfall into a res.
