I used the bio terra plus by itself and found it really held the moisture. I added the pro mix because between the two they have alot of the stuff I added myself when I made my own soil. You could literally not even add nutrients and still do fine but everybody likes to push things, myself included. I added perlite because it helps the soil drain and get more oxygen. You could use straight terra plus with perlite added, or just pro mix of any kind but with pro mix bx or hp you'd be adding all the nutrients yourself since they have none. The pro mix veg and herb has added nutes and so does the terra plus so you can go easy on adding more, like 1/4 to 1/2 strength doses. I probably went 45/45/10 terra plus/pro mix/perlite but alter it however you choose.
The pro mix veg and herb has canadian sphagnum peat moss, peat humus, compost, perlite, gypsum, limestone, organic fertilizer and mycorrhizae. The bio terra plus has white peat, shredded tree bark (anti-fungus), canna coco fiber and certified, organic ingredients such as bone meal, bat guano and a variety of trace elements from natural sources. My plants are thriving with it and at week 2 of flower at the moment and there hasn't been so much as a burned tip, yellow leaf or bug of any kind. Just plush green leaves and lots of growth.
You could use any nutrient line with this. The nice thing is you need very little. I tried the Go Box I linked earlier and still have tons left. I'll be trying the bio vega and flores next though.
