I hear you. The light is 24"x24" so there's 12 inches to the wall of a tent. I imagine if it's 24" above the canopy it will easily be hitting the tent walls with pretty solid numbers. Since there are no cobs in the middle of the light it will negate that hot spot a bit too.
I don't run a BCBlondes light although I do live in the same city. I would also never spend the extra money on Cree cobs. I use Vero's also. My next build will probably be EB or Samsung strips because they are just simply cool and cost effective.
I looked at the Par Horta prices for something similar. He's using Vero cobs in a 900w light that's basically the same price as the BCBlondes 850w light with Cree cobs. Neither option is cheap that's for sure but the only alternative is buying outside the country or building your own.
Personally I'd want to buy the Timber 900w light, or even 600w because it's so simple and effective, nice spread. The prices after conversion and duty, fee's and taxes are a joke though.
Ya buddy, i hear ya.. I live in bc too.. Looked at there lights awhile ago.. Just too much $ ..

I ordered my tent from them. The Fusion Hut. It had a few pinholes like even Gorilla tents have but it's pretty solid, especially for the money. I didn't recommend them because it's not my favorite site. I prefer ones with feedback on products on the site as well as very prompt replies to emails. Having said that, I would order from them again. I also bought a General Hydroponics Flora Series pack. It has everything you need to get started (for nutrients) and it's cheaper than anywhere else I've seen it.
is flora series for earth aswell ?! I've been looking at dyna-gro but the guy at the hydro store said he would set me up with some organic products

Danielson is bang on.. Stay away from mars.. Chinese junk.. I would get a timber.. If money is no object..
Well if you're telling me timber lighting 900w will get me a bigger yield, let's say 1lbs more than what the 850w bcblondes would yield then I rather spend the extra money ! .... What is the difference between both ?! Looks like I know where to buy my tent ! ! haha

It's for soil yes. Actually the one I got was the General Organics Go Box seen HERE
It's organic, no animal products etc. Works great.

This article is a few years old but nutrients probably haven't changed in forever. It's just a guy who side by sides a bunch of popular brands. Seen HERE

The Timber 900w Vero light has a somewhat better spread in the cobs. It also has 50w more power. The downside is that after conversion it costs $1890cdn. Correct me if I'm wrong but Quebec has a 14.95% tax so add on another $275. Then add custom fee's and duty, ballpark $150. Then add the cost of shipping, ballpark $150. So you're looking at almost $2500 for a 900w Timber light compared to $1500 plus shipping, ballpark $100 plus tax $170 so about approximately $1750 for the BCBlondes light. For $2500 you'd get the 850w light and a veg light like THIS.

I don't think there would be a lot of difference in results. 850w of Cree vs 900w of Vero is pretty evenly matched.
If you want to compare it, shoot the guy at Par Horta an email and ask him what he could build you that compares.

We didn't use the same conversion calculator because I checked on google and it gave me 2200$ lol and you are right about the crazy taxes we pay in Quebec hahaha I was thinking the same thing buying an extra veg light for the same price !!! You got me interested in earth juice from reading that article hahaha ... What would you suggest for earth ? I've read miracle grow does the job but I really want the best results ! I've been reading a lot lately and still trying to figure out the nutrients (Even though the guy at the hydro store said he would hook me up with oragnic and a not to complicated feeding schedule for my first time) He also said he would make me buy a few bags of earth and make a mix .. Any advice on that ?!

My soil base is Biocanna Terra Plus. It comes loaded with bone meal, bat guano and a variety of trace elements from natural sources.

But I've also found some really sweet soil in the Pro Mix Organic Vegetable and Herb. I amend it with some extra perlite and whatever else I have around.
If I could get earth juice I would, haven't seen it locally yet. Might have to search online. Biocanna makes a really good 2 part Bio Vega and Bio Flores that works great in conjunction with their Terra Plus soil. It's more expensive but it's probably as good as it gets.

I'm actually using a combination of the bio terra plus and the pro mix veg and herb right now and I've barely added any extra nutrients when I water and the plants are exploding. Loving it.

You can find BioCanna dealers in Montreal by checking HERE

Do you mind liking my page? I can't seem to quote and reply when there is a link because I'm missing 1 likee lol ... Thanks !
So you're telling me that you would only use bio vega, bio flores plus the terra plus soil with promix and you would have everything you need from veg to flower without adding nothing else during the grow ?! (is the terra plus soil you are talking about called ''terra professional soil?! or is it ''bio terra plus'' just want to be sure lol ! )If that's what you mean then I'll difinitely check it out and follow your recommendation ! I don't mind spending a little extra to get the good quality,

It's called bio terra plus. You'll see it on the site I linked. It contains a bunch of stuff I used to add one at a time by myself but it gets a bit overwhelming to make your own soil all the time. Since you'll be using led's you might also want some extra cal/mag. If you look at the directions for the Bio Vega and Flores is tells you that if you're using a pre-fertilized soil like bio terra plus the dosage for nutrients is lighter and accounts for that in it's instructions. I also like this about the bio terra plus soil..."We have deliberately chosen not to add bark fines in to the new Bio Terra Plus. It has been found to be one of the ingredients that acted as an attractant for sciarid flies (fungus gnats). Sciarid flies can inhibit the growth process of the root."
I've had problems with fungus gnats but since I started using the bio terra plus I haven't had any issues.

Thanks man.. I don't think you understand how helpful you've been... answered so many of my questions and I'm now 3 steps closer to getting started ! Thanks for all the links.... So I'll be visiting a biocanna dealer near by to see what they have to offer .... So just to resume... bio terra plus mixed with some promix and perlite ? (Anything else I could add that would help?) Also do you have a specific percentage for example 50% bioterra 30%promix and 20%perlite ?! bio vega and bio flores really have everything you need ? I'm surprised hahaha Seemed a lot more confusing than what it really is with the npk ! I'm working so much so hopefully I'll have time to go looking around this weekend !

I used the bio terra plus by itself and found it really held the moisture. I added the pro mix because between the two they have alot of the stuff I added myself when I made my own soil. You could literally not even add nutrients and still do fine but everybody likes to push things, myself included. I added perlite because it helps the soil drain and get more oxygen. You could use straight terra plus with perlite added, or just pro mix of any kind but with pro mix bx or hp you'd be adding all the nutrients yourself since they have none. The pro mix veg and herb has added nutes and so does the terra plus so you can go easy on adding more, like 1/4 to 1/2 strength doses. I probably went 45/45/10 terra plus/pro mix/perlite but alter it however you choose.
The pro mix veg and herb has canadian sphagnum peat moss, peat humus, compost, perlite, gypsum, limestone, organic fertilizer and mycorrhizae. The bio terra plus has white peat, shredded tree bark (anti-fungus), canna coco fiber and certified, organic ingredients such as bone meal, bat guano and a variety of trace elements from natural sources. My plants are thriving with it and at week 2 of flower at the moment and there hasn't been so much as a burned tip, yellow leaf or bug of any kind. Just plush green leaves and lots of growth.

You could use any nutrient line with this. The nice thing is you need very little. I tried the Go Box I linked earlier and still have tons left. I'll be trying the bio vega and flores next though.

Hey man long time ! So I've been working a lot and barely had any time but today I was off and decided to go look at those biocanna products.... The store has the soil and the nutrients... When I spoke with him he mentioned I should use bio vega, bio flora and he also mentioned 2 other products... ''bio boost'' and ''bio rhizotonic'' any advice on the other 2 products ? when do I use them ?! He basically said that all I needed was those 4 products and I was good to go !

I haven't used the boost and rhizotonic but have seen them. I would take his advice and just use them all but maybe just stick with the terra plus soil and not add the pro mix because it's got it's own set of nutrients that you won't need if you use all 4 of those products. Just add some perlite.

Here's a few pics. I have been busy lately also so these plants grew with no attention from me. I did top them twice and defoliated the lower half between 2 and 3 weeks into flower. Other than that I just let them grow however they wanted. The Pineapple Express on the right seemed like it was an auto because it started flowering right away. These plants are about 7 weeks from seed. Started the other 2 flowering on April 7th, so they are almost 3 weeks into flower.

If you're buying lights or components from the U.S.A, have the vendor mark down the value and ONLY SHIP BY USPS, they don't collect taxes. $1000.00 timber shipment cost me $87.00 total in taxes and duties. Fedex and UPS will screw you every time.
