Me too..I've never built a light before so I didn't know what to think when he said that haha.
If you have a homedepot or Lowe’s around you’ll have access to all the junk you need extra. My shop is full of stuff from over the years. Just try to not get so hung up on the little things and don’t contact customer service high. We’ve all done it but generally a bad idea lol.

Also, please don't think i'm speaking negatively about this company or it's products. The tech seems outstanding and the customer service rep didn't ever lie to me or do anything super foul. I just feel that my experience as a newbie to all this was...not the greatest? But, with this being said, I also believe my experience reflects on how I approached it and the questions that I asked. If anything, I am the one to blame!

Also, I feel like I'm blowing up this part of the forum lol:shock:. I might smoke and chill for a bit so other peoples threads can be seen. I appreciate all the input and advice from everyone tho.

Yea, I was stupid to contact them while I was high. Inconsiderate of me haha. I'll be mindful of this in the future tho!

"was told that it looks like I need to do more saving and come back when I've done more research haha."

Did they really say that?
Yea haha, this is the response I got after asking about the "misc wire, plug etc, assorted "stuff" any diy builder has on hand". I was just curious about what he meant because I don't have things that a typical builder would have...I've never built a light before so I didn't even know what materials he's referring too lol. This is the original question he was replying to :

"When you refer to assorted things, do you mean things to solder wires and stuff? i'm still really new to all of this so i basically have nothing as far as materials"

surprising huh! was growmau5 having a bad day?
Always more to it though. If he was asking me questions like that id direct them to the assembled gear. Not toys these lights.
I was thinking about going with the 200w pre assemble fixture from their commercial lights section. I think i'm gonna go with a DIY strip build tho. Someone mentioned using 5x F564B Samsung strips on a 24x18 aluminum baking pan. HLG-240h-48b driver and a dimmer. Sounds cheap and effective. Is there a way to replace one of those strips for something that's a little heavier in red tho?

Bro, this is the so-called Russian / Ukrainian business. As far as I understand Chiled are the Slavs. I'm not a racist, I will say more, I'm Russian, and I always meet this kind of thing. Russians do not understand that the client pays money.
I myself own a small online store focused mainly on NA / EU markets and I can not imagine myself having to answer this to the customer. It's a shame to work with clients like that. I have seen this only with the Chinese and Slavs.

I run a small business, if someone contacted me at 2am I would probably be a little curt in my response.

I wouldn't let it put you off. Just be more specific about the questions you ask and do that extra research.

Seems like a lame reason to give up on a company , especially when you want to build a youtube channel.

Lol I’m getting the feeling that people think I’m speaking badly about this company. I’m really not but think what you want. I’m not sure how customer service works in smaller businesses but do they get a notification and have to reply instantly? I would assume that they have set work hours like any other place no?
And I’m not sure how much more specific I could have been? “Is it possible to fit the 100w logic pucks in between the boards”, “when referring to assorted stuff, what do you mean”..
Maybe this guy shouldn’t be working for Customer Service if he doesn’t like answering these types of questions. Isn’t that what they do in customer service? Answer peoples questions? Help them with sales inquiries?

“You are not a customer, you are one of 20-40 shoppers that I speak to each day, potential customer, yes.
How do I decide who to invest my time in, and who is simply kicking tires, and “planning’’
Trust me, 90% of inquiries are time wasters and tire kickers. “

Sorry guys but I will not be buying ChilLed OR RapidLed. In no way, shape, or form am I basing this decision on the quality or performance of this light...I'm sure this is great tech so don't let my personal experience ruin it for you! I'm making this decision because i'm still too new to this and I seem to have offended their customer service by asking the wrong questions haha. A youtube video about the assembly for the 300w DIY kit states that the frame, mounting bracket for the driver, and some other things will need to be bought via RapidLed. In their defense, I asked if I could get a discounted price for a large order...well, what "I" considered large/expensive. It was like 2am and I was super stoned.. its a stupid question that no body should ask, especially as a first time customer...so, don't be a dummy like me haha! The order consisted of the 300w DIY kit($525), 2x100w Logic Pucks(around $50 a piece), 2x140mm Pin Heatsinks, Driver for the 2xLogic Pucks(not sure of the pricing), Frame that will fit the 300w DIY and 2xLogic pucks($27), and 2xmounting brackets for both drivers. I was estimating the cost to be around $800-900. Either way, I know this was a mistake, but their customer service rep. sure did a good job of making me feel stupid haha. I don't want to put his name on here because 1) This could have been avoided had I not asked about price. 2) Maybe he was just having a bad day. 3) Maybe I actually seemed really retarded lol. But, if the kit doesn't have the required materials to actually hang the lights, is it so wrong of me to ask what additional parts I would need? What if I buy this kit and i'm required to solder some wires? Am I just SOL? I was told that it looks like I need to do more saving and come back when I've done more research haha. Despite asking a stupid question, I still feel kinda disrespected and belittled.

Haha this really sucks because I wanted to stay loyal with this company and rock their products throughout my grows. Does anyone know of other new high quality led companies? I will be basing my grows off their lights and products via youtube and forums. I'm not looking for sponsorship's or discounts or anything(well atleast from the LED companies), I just think I have a retarded version of OCD and would only like to stick with one company.. I've been like this with everything lol. I'm actually hoping that by using a newer tech. in grow LED's, this will help me build a viewer/fan base on Youtube. I know this is a very hard thing to do but i'm already in the process of buying everything I need haha(cameras, mic's, etc). I also think this would help in the marketing aspect of newer upcoming companies! Many people seemed to be interested in ChilLed's tech but are hesistant to buy because they haven't seen any results or yields. Could anyone out there steer me in the right direction to a new and upcoming high quality LED company?
You know that's not a big order right? I would laugh at you too.you are trying to buy diy stuff but want it all built for you...

I've worked in misc capacities of retail from floor-nobody to leadership and I can tell you that there is no excusing bad service. Whether your order was as small as can be or as large as could be, this shouldn't matter because regardless of what you purchase, today's sale does not dictate what you'll buy tomorrow or how many friends you'll run out and tell, influencing another exponentially large number of potential and sustainable customers. That said, the Mau5 is a home-time hero around here (and rightfully so) so many will be quick to cut the guy some slack. You are not limited to cutting edge lighting from just Chilled and I agree with you that their DIY could contain a little more detail. Try out Horticulture Lighting Group - they have great customer service, they design an elegantly simple and effective product, they use cutting edge top shelf materials, and it's quasi-DIY (seems like that's what you want ) - if you're lucky, what you want will be in stock. I want to incorporate some Chilled pucks in the near future so I'm not dissin but if you wanted a no compromise solution, HLG treated me very well.
