I have questions on my room! Please help

Hey everyone!

I recently purchased my first house and I need some help setting up. I plan on growing in my basement that has about 10 foot tall ceilings. I plan on using either this tent-https://www.htgsupply.com/products/agromax-14x28x10-grow-house/

Or

https://www.htgsupply.com/products/silverback-10x20-grow-tent-2/

I have a picture that I added of the space that I have to use. I plan on building a wall along side the railing on the right hand side all the way down basically. It will be a sealed room and I plan on putting one of those tents in there for flowering and a smaller tent for vegging. I have a few questions but basically I need as much advice as possible.

I plan on running 8 600 watt hps for flower. I need to exhaust the air outside and I’m thinking that I can maybe get a dryer vent set up to toss the old air under my deck. I want to use a passive air intake with a small fan blow clean air in and a much larger fan sucking air out into a carbon filter and then having that air lead to under my deck.

My questions are-

1. The breaker box is in the basement, but should I create a separate box for an operation this big? I literally have no experience with electrical whatsoever

2. Do you think I will run into heat issues?

3. If I can exhaust it under the deck, what should I do?

Please help me!

If it was me and the cost was reasonable, I would definitely go with an additional breaker box. I guess that would involve running a new big electrical wire. I couldn't do that myself but you may be able to. Personally, I hate to be constantly worried about overloading a circuit.

Also, I don't know how careful you have to be. I do know this though. Regular dirt is really good at absorbing odors. My grow room is a free standing shed in my back yard. There is a fairly big hole dug under it and I use it for exhaust. The odor is undetectable. Another thing that helps are lots of green plants By shed is set up so that the exhaust air hits dirt and then has to go through a lot of foliage to get into the outside air.

I’m curious as to how many outlets I need to add for a setup like this. Or, would just running off the standard breaker box be do able? I need help

What is your grow experience? Any electrical abilities or HVAC experience ?
I love your space but the whole state seems to think the can grow better than mids by throwing cash at it

I have no experience but I have friends who grow some definite dank. I’m gonna ask for their input as well but just trying to cover my bases by asking questions.

Not sure where your deck is mounted but it sounds like a rim joist is what you would be going through to vent under the deck. That may be the limiting factor in the hole size and multiple vents may be required. I have done exactly that before and it had the added benefit of keeping the snow and ice melted off the deck lol.

I would have an electrician pull a sub panel, it will make adding receptacles, lighting controller and future loads much easier.

Heat issues are possible depending on the ambient temperatures, ventilation CFM and other factors. Humidity can also be a big factor so plan for a dehumidifier. Mini splits rock, I wouldn't grow without one.

If you are growing in Michigan basement, plan on heat issues, then cold issues, then humidity issues, then humidity issues again, also more heat issues to go along with the next humidity issue.
Then, when Spring ends, Summertime heat and humidity issues start.
Humidity/ heat issues can mean, too much, and/or not enough. The Autumn season is even more exiting!!!
What I'm getting at is, it's a beautiful ride...

I really like the silverback tent I ran the 4x8 for long time and was good quality, one thing to consider is that if you were to run two 10x10 tents at opposite times of the day you would only have to cool 2400 watts at once instead of 4800.
The largest dryer vent I’ve seen is 6 inches and you will likely need more than that.

Whether or not you need a sub panel is dependent on how many open spots are left on your main panel. Wire adds up especially larger wire. I just did a sub panel for my room and was surprised at cost. Your gonna need outlet for fans (multiple wall fans, exhaust fans etc.) your gonna need a couple 30 amp 240 breakers and intermatic timers or one larger breaker and a lighting controller(easier option come with a timer). Also need outlets for dehuey and AC if your gonna go that route. How many empty slots are in your main panel?

Are you going to run into heat issues, well most likely. If you run all 4800 watts at once your gonna need a big fan and big exit hole. Unless you put in a mini split or another kind of ac. If you have the money buy the mini split I just got mine going and I’m really happy can go up and down in temp at the touch of a button where as before I was trying to use home hvac and was always having temp swings.

Also if you mentioned it I didn’t see are you using air cooled lights, if so where are you Intaking and exhausting these they work much better with their own intakes and exhuasts.

Good luck keep us posted on how it goes. I think it will work out great. Are you lowering temps and humidity for the last couple weeks. I think it’s key to have lots of airflow and defoliate heavy when running this way but from watching lots of commercial grows on ig I do believe that its the best way to go as long as you have control of everything environment wise.

Thanks for the positive vibes.
Naturally my local hydro hut thinks I'm nuts. :dunce:

Yes, I plan to lower both temps and rh the last....possibly last 4 weeks.
I plan to keep the nutes steady. No jacking around with bloosters this run. Lol

Goot so far. Did light defol.
D14. Still 84/70 ish, 1300ppm/1.7ec/5x daily feeds.

Leaf surface temps are typically higher against the back wall.
They always stretch more back there.

Don’t wanna high jack this thread but saw you said the plants withhigher leave temps stretch more. I’m actually looking to get more stretch I cant run the whole run at high temps as I don’t have c02 yet. I wonder how high I could go on temps durin week 1 and 2 and if would help get the stretch I desire.

I was gonna ask about the cooled lights. If I can exhaust out of the basement under the deck, how do I go out then exhausting the heat from the light? Like where do I exhaust that to
