i dont even know what to title this

so a week ago my plant wasn't drinking water for 4 days the ph was fine the ppm or tds was normal and there was no root rot it actually grew a lot more. the only deficiency I saw was nitrogen the buds look normal and her buds have fatten up so nothing bad really happend. after it went 4 days with out water. dose this commonly happen in late flower?

I'm growing in hydroponics
using the general hydroponics 3 part system
sf1000 spider farmer led
on a 18 hours on and 6 hours off the entire grow

Yeah. I'm assuming you've been giving them that much the whole time right? So yeah, cut back gradually. You'll want the plant dry out quicker than that 4 days, like 2-3 days I think it's what you'd want it to dry out in, closer to two unless you like to water every day, then go for one. Definitely less than what you have been.

The plant is essentially done it's major growth cycle and is now "finishing" up, which is why it doesn't need as much water anymore.

Hydroponics is a myriad of different ways, from soilless to NFT rails and everything in between. What type of hydro do you mean and how many plants?

i was thinking during the 2 day dark period i would empty the reservoir completely so it starts the drying process faster

I've done a lot of DWC grows and never noticed a drastic slowing or stopping of water consumption.

If everything else seems OK I'd put it down to operator error maybe. No reason for the plants to suddenly slow or stop drinking unless they had massive root rot and the plants would show that overnight. Ask me how I know. ;)

Since you didn't say RDWC I'm assuming you are discussing a single plant in a single container. I've run NFT rails and Coco. I have never run DWC or RDWC. In NFT running 4 large plants in one rail with a shared reservoir I would see a small slow down in transpiration and uptake toward the end. In DTW Coco I actually see more of that slow down toward the end.

It would not surprise me or alarm me if at the end of a grow a single plant slowed its metabolism down. I would do what @OldMedUser suggested and check to see if you could have mismeasured or another operator error (I think we've all done them LOL). If you had a problem starting you'd know by now, hydro reacts quickly.

Best of luck on finishing your grow and congratulations on getting to the finish line.

like i said the roots where healthy no signs of root rot and she has grown alot of new roots like in short time frame and during the time it was not drinking water she showed no signs of death just lack of nitrogen she just started

Kind of odd to see all those new roots emerging from the net pot. The older ones look browner than they ought to. Do they easily pull apart if you manhandle them a bit? I would expect to see all those new roots from a plant recovering from a bout of root rot that was cured but not if everything was running right all along.

Do you run an airstone in the tank? I used to shut mine off for taking pics of root porn. :)

As long as your mistake is a learning experience and doesn't happen again then there's nothing to feel stupid about. I have a pretty long list of boo-boos myself. :)

Should get as much of the damaged roots out as you can and dose heavily with peroxide for a while to kill the bad shit off or it will be back. I used 35% food grade with my DWCs.

Any idea what your nute temps are? 65 - 68F is best to prevent rot and once I made a DIY chiller out of a water cooler I never needed peroxide in the tubs again.
