i hit a submerged tree with it yesterday, at 45 mph. it was over before i even realized what happened. just a little bump to the left. :hump:
That would've scared the shit outta me, I don't even like bumping into things when I'm trolling around on the water.

How clear is the lake up there? How deep does it go? Can I bring my Scuba gear? :)

We could spear gun us some fish, get down to their level and even things up a little 8) Ever get under that water, or you just like cruising on top?

Of course, you don't want a spear gun that's range exceeds the water's visibility!

over 175 feet deep in some areas. the water can be very clear, in the right areas. my buddy went down years ago and said all the "lunkers" are 20 - 25' down, hidden within the branches of the submerged trees. he says you couldn't get a lure down there, and if you did you'd never get it back out. said he saw 12 pounders, everywhere.

come on up, my door is always open.

Welcome to the world of lakes  lots of trees, and mud and silt hanging out on the bottom. 20-25 feet sounds about right. I've been in a few lakes before and thats where I would see them. If it goes to 175 feet then they probably get down a little deeper too. I don't even want to imagine how fucking cold the bottom of a 175 foot lake would be though. You would probably need a light and some extra tanks for deco  unless your doing CCR trimix.

You can do one tank at 30 feet for an hour and a half with out having to wait more than a 4 minutes to come up safely.

Who needs lures?

You just have to be careful not to get tangled in anything.

this thread makes me want to go fishing. i only went once in the gulf when i was little, caught a baby shark and threw it back.

we have quite a few fishing spots around here too, might have to pick up a rod and learn to fish next summer.

That's sucks dude, hope it isn't anything major. It'd be pretty fucked up if it was from an existing problem they didn't tell you about or something. Best of luck to you on getting it figured out.
