I have plenty of space. It's like 12-20 feet vertical space. Vaulted ceilings. Rotating plants every day. plus the vert vpar in the center helping with lower growth. So they should do very well. I learned the changes in growth and feeding and light distance with these lights this last batch. Despite all the errors.The buds came out very dense and very tasty and colorful. Very stony too.. Just have not weighed them yet. Some are still slow drying. will post some pics tonight

Can you explain the mounding thing? I've seen this being done in a lot of different pictures lately but never read anything about it.

I'm really curious to see how these perform because running fluorescent lights at these distances contradicts everything I know about them lol. I've seen other people run them really far away too, but they didn't do anything vertically to compensate for lack of lower penetration like you are.

Sounds like you've got it all planned out with rotations to utilize the vertical patterns though, which will be huge. I really like the setup! This should be pretty sweet to follow, thanks for sharing HW!

Sweet setup hyroot, subbed and watching. One question, looking to flower next round using either 2x A51-190's, or 1 of the Inda-Gro 420's, supplementing with side LED's. In your experience, and looking at your current setup, would you say 1x Inda-Gro 420 would be Ok for 4 plants? (with some LED's for side-lighting). Not planning to let them go to 5 footers, will be shooting for around 3-3.5' tops in 7 gal GeoPots. Thanks in advance for any input...

it helps root production. All the water runs to the new roots along the sides of the mound. Then water won't collect in the center and won't leave the outer edges dryer and won't create a concaveness in the center. It does make watering with fabric pots a little easier and faster. You have to saturate the center first so water doesn't just flow out the sides of the pot. I also planted a bunch of red clover along the outside of the mounds for a companion crop. Some have already sprouted.

I've done alot of par t5 grows. , I always kept T5's 2-4 inches away from the canopy. With the IG I started it at 8 inches away. That was way too close. Raised a couple inches a few times. Even at 14 inches away the tallest tops were getting a little burned. I raised it to 16 inches and the burning of tips of tops had ceased. Unfortunately the tops were not as frosty as lower buds because of that,

4 plants will definitely fit. Mine are in 7 gals and I have more than that. Next round I'm thinking of doing 4 15 gals or 4 10 gals under each light.

Good stuff, thanks for the reply, nice video in your last journal too. That's my main concern with these types of lights is the penetration efficiency. Having to work the lights at that distance is a heavy compromise for the lower development, which really takes away from their overall efficiency. A smaller "sweet spot" if you will. The way you've set up it should be ideal to improve that so kudos to you, the vertical lighting should be sweet based on the canopy from your last grow. Hopefully your yields will be boosted quite a bit.

I'm very interested in trying one of these someday with my canopy methods, they seem to be really nice. Thanks for sharing your runs with these!

Great thanks, will plan this out, going to take it easy with 4x 7gal/soil and go from there. First round in a new room, will need to pay attention to the environment 1st round so I don't want to push it, I'll veg and flower first round in there then go perpetual feeds from my old (2x4x5') cabinet (veg) and 2x2x4 tent (clones/seeds). The new room is 4x9.5x7.5' so I'll have some room to play with NFT for the first time as well. Going to be a busy spring!

I transplant like this sometimes as well. I find it also allows the root mass to utilize a larger volume of the container as well.

I will post pics of dry buds later, I just need to borrow a better camera to see the trichomes..

Funny, our soil looks the same, i even have those scattered clover patches.
im close on a harvest and wil have about 70gallons of no till soil, because im not going to usr them roght awayC im going to sow all sorts of plants to keep the soil alive, cant wait!

alot more clovers have sprouted. Probably within a week or two it will look like moors of Ireland in the smart pots..

Lookin healthy! I read thru the rols thread, seems like alot of work to me...I also do not have a lot of extra space to keep soil around and such. But does look like it works well. You find any leprechauns in there yet looking for 4 leaf clovers lol?

Are you using white/Dutch clovers.??........my crimson clovers seem to get big, not good for containers IMO.

Trying to find that grass your recommended locally.......Scotts has it hd, lol probably surrounded by a Mg coating

red clover. They grow the shortest. Plus the red clover flowers inhibit cancer cell growth too. When eaten or drank in a tea . Home deps carries Bahia grass seed. Make mycos..

its really not much work. The soil never leaves the pot. Only work is with teas. That's the same with any organic soil grow.

The cup was cool. I chatted up frenchy and got some tips on making hash. Smoked some of his hash. Best hash I have ever smoked. Picked up seeds of 9lb. Hammer, plushberry, quantum kush, jilly bean, Scotts og, mulanjie x jilly bean, Jesus og x Scotts og and dire wolf.

some seeds I got for free. Dire wolf was free tester from tga and some others I got from other places. The 9lb. Hammer was $90 for a 10 pack. No 5 packs of that. Everything else was $70 a 10 pack or $40 a 5 pack.. Including food and water. I spent $300 the whole day. When I was at the tga booth and waiting for my seeds and change. TC said sorry for the wait. Handed me a bong with a fat bowl packed of professor chaos. That got me high. Then Mohican gave me a few Scotts og joints and we smoked all smoked on those joints. After that I was stupid high. Then kept smoking. Then after Frenchy's hash I was just gone. I smoked his hash one more time as we were leaving.. I had a great time.

Damn, im jealous
