Hydro shop etiquette?

Hey Everyone!

I recently discovered a hydro shop only 25 minutes from my house. I don't know if it is because of my time on here and browsing online shops, but I got a feeling that they cater to marijuana growing needs(the sell ONA products, a full wall of carbon filters and accessories, and a lot of nutrients notorious for marijuana growing). I am just wondering if there is a way I can figure out if they are cool with people looking for help with growing weed without being a huge sketchball or getting kicked out. Is there a "hey, can you help me grow pot?" etiquette when going into a hydro shop?

Thanks!

it is like a bong shoping

u never call it a bong u call it a water pipe

this applies to growing .....u are not making buds u are growing flowers .......now u can talk in code to them untill one of them uses the other set of words (this is legal reason )

adviod...... bud/weed/marijuna/smoke/and other key words like couth mouth or and describing effects

allowed .....flowering/root system/ph lvl /bloom enchancer/fruit thicking .........techinal terms that can appy to all plants

last part if it is that close to your place adviod using a car incase they are one of those shops the cops sit out infront of copy plates and then grab your trash in the middle of the night ........................u buy from the shop and walk 2 blocks the other way from your house cut left or right 3 blocks and look if the same car or person is repeating u take the long way home if they are not then head strait home and from now on u have 2 trashes
1 trash is all the normal stuff the 2nd trash is all bad stuff the 2nd trash u take with u and dump in a dumpuster on the way to work (make sure there are no iding papers or anything links it to u )

Thanks for the tips! What about if I have a deficiency and ask them what to give it and they ask for more details about what I am growing?

Don't talk about weed in a hydro store... even if they do (which they probably won't); it's for your own good. Growing tomatoes is just like growing weed from what I've heard, but everyone knows tomatoes = weed so you can tell them peppers or strawberries or whatever you want... just don't say something dumb like i'm growing oranges in flood n drain.

Unless you are in a legal state, then do whatever.

Malevolence is right, I have a good relationship with my hydro store guy, he comes from Humboldt county has worked for commercial grow ops and has grown weed for decades. In our many hours of conversation the word weed has never once been spoken, what we discuss growing has always been tomatoes or veggies. When I was a newer grower I was in the shop and asked him if he wanted to see pictures of my tomatoes that I had on my phone, he said no and that I shouldn't bring it up again, that he could get the store as well as himself in trouble, that they were already under a microscope by the cops and that he couldn't have knowledge of anything illegal. So after a few chilly receptions, we became friendly again and now everything is cool.

I would never, ever ask advice from a hydro store. Not for legality but for the reason that they have no idea what they are talking about or they are trying to be Johnny Salesman and sell you some B.S. Now Im not speaking for all shops, because my local one is awesome and the owner knows A LOT. But unless youve been doing this for a minute or two it can be hard to tell whos yanking your chain and who actually knows whats up. The best place for advice is right where you are here it RIU. Even if someone gives you bad info, there is someone else to correct them. I like how this community works. If you do talk shop with the hydro store then just use words like "fruiting crop" or certain fruits like tomatoes peppers. Cannabis isnt that "unique" in terms of needs, many plants share those exact same needs. Best of luck to you man!! Namaste

Your hydro guy prob comes to riu for his info anyway. Mine does (I've seen his pc monitor with riu open... whoops) and anytime you google hydroponic anything it always comes back with riu hits.

My hydro guy knows what I'm doing but he's just assuming and he happens to assume correctly. But I'm not going to confirm it for him or put his business at risk talking shit.

I always refer to my grow at the hydro store as "my flowers" even though I am a medical card holder I still dont want people know what I am doing. The store guys know what is up and what I am really doing and when I used to ask then questions they know I was talking about MJ and not daisies or roses.

I never ask for advice at the hydro store unless I have too much cash in my pockets and I need to get rid of it. I just go in, get my crap, pay, and split.

I work in a nursery near Seattle its kinda customer to customer. Its funny when guys come in and say their tomato plants have spider mites under 3k of hps lights. And i always reply, oh man!

I find that the guys at my Hydro store are really good about making sure you're buying the right thing for your problem, not just some crazy expensive alternative. While I live in a medical state, I still always just talk about tomatoes and peppers. When you talk about 10 week flowering schedules and using Advanced Nutrients they're usually able to catch on.

Well I think itd be great if the guys selling you garden stuff knew what they were talking about, but one key thing to know if there in, simple..Carbon filters/ air fresheners/ odor neutralizers. I cant remember one time my mom or grandma were complaining about their tomatoes herbs and peppers smelling lol its honestly kinda weird like i wanna ask next time and just see what bull shit answer i get out of it haha

I wonder how many hydro shops would still be in business if it wasn't for cultivation of our beloved plant.

I have a friend that owns and runs two shops in a not 420 friendly state----- wonderful getting stuff wholesale. If anyone ever talks specifically about weed-----they're ask to leave and not come back. Too much to loose.

Go into the shop and say you want to grow green tomatoes. If they say "what green tomatoes? What do you mean?" - walk away. If they say "Ah, like that" - stay and let them help.
