hps vs crl lighting question

I know that 250 watts of hps and 250 watts of cfl is not the same but my question is a to be knowledge a 250 watt hps is apox 27000 lumens. so would 27000 lumens of cfl light be the same as 27000 lumens from a hps light.

It will not be the same, the hps will have much better light penetration into the canopy. The cfl lumens are only available at very close distance. If the cfls were kept very close to the plant and you had 6+ bulbs making up that wattage for side lighting etc it would be comparable. I would go with the hps.

Hps also has the correct spectrum for flowering, but it can also be used throughout the whole life of the plant with great results. You can leave the CFL's in there for some supplemental lighting if you want that would be fine too. Good Luck.
