HPS Lighting Question!?!?

Which would be better???
2x 250W + 2x 400W
or
6x 250W

I got a 10' x 6' grow area
and im taking into account that i can get the 250W HPS's at a very cheap price!!!The 400W lights are almost 3 times the price!!!

more wattage will give you better penetration, if you are doing short plants

250 watters if you want taller plants 400's

the heat from many lights is the biggest thing

10 x 6 i would opt for 2 600 or 2 1000k

thanks man.i think i am gona stick with the 6x 250watts and just lower them closer to the tops to stop tall growth.it will be easier for heat control as i live in a hot climate.(temps da past two wks have been 35degreesC plus during the day so.....)

Get air cooled lights.....why waste so much light..

yeah man...i know!!!!i should...but my hole setup, including fans, 6x 250Watt HPS, reflectors, everything is costing me below $250!im on a tight budget and im using what i can get....thanx tho man...mayb when i make some money frm this herd ill get..

yea greed 6 lights at 250 is stupid why dont u buy 1000w HPS and a 600w HPS? easier?

$250 is very cheap lol!!! my set up cost me $400 and im still nto got everythign

6 250 watters will cover more area space,more than a 1000 watter but penertration will be less !for example if you put a 1000watter in a room that space light spread will be less which means the plants further out will get next to no light!whereas 6 250 watters will cover the whole room with light but like i said only the top of the plants will really get light especially when flowering.

Thanx for the help....im paying about $20 for each 250W HPS including bulb, so i cant pass up a deal like that.im gona go for 6 250W for now, and when i get more cash ill add 1 or 2 1000W freestanding(no reflector) hps's.im getting nice growth(keeping the bulbs 30cm away from tops) with the 250's at the moment so im happy with them...
