thats cute chipper the probe is metal which absorbs light as heat put the probe under the canopy or shade it and you will get the accurate reading like i said before people that just dont kno...

its sitting under a hps 2700k. kelvin is the measure of heat soooo 1+1=2 your reading says 98 in reality its probably around 82

learn something new every day don't you?
Dont think so. With an outside temperature of nearly 30 degrees or 86 as you speak, the air temperature is pushing 34 agrees(93 degree) in side my shed that is sitting out in full sunlight. Add lighting to the mix and it easily reaches 37 degrees quite regularly. So i grow in a hot shed, it can be done successfully.

I will move the temp probe however, cheers

An update on temperature after repositioning of thermometer to to outer edges of crop. Funny how it is still hovering around the 37 degree mark.

Yes, if you are 34C in your shed, you could easily get 37 at your canopy.
And the bud looks good from here!

But spex does have a point. When your thermometer is exposed to direct light, your thermometer can gain 'radiant' heat which can result in a false reading (i.e., Temps too high). Your revised placement is still in the light. I got a small thermometer, and I have it in the shade in a white cardboard tube at canopy level.

If you are growing well with high temps, and you are satisfied, don't sweat it (pun intended)!

im not here to argue with you man im actually complimenting your grow believe it or not its not possible to grow somthing that looks like that when the temp is at 98 degrees plain and simple you would have stunted mutant looking plants

Ya Chipper.... What the fuck would you know??? ;) -S0uP
I Know it mighty hot in my shed, Soup! Not ideal conditions but they still grow.

I will put it in some tubing tomorrow, and see! However we have just come of one record breaking summer, where in my part of the AUS we had 21 days consecutive days with temps over 37. Temps in shed were extreme. My plants still grew and produced well.

Ya dude I dont know how you and Flowa do it meh????:) Especially with the unexpected floods and ALL! ;) BTW you ever change that 90 to a straight shot??? Will say the Moby makes me a bit jealous though, shes lookin real good!

I would like to add SOMETHING that would benefit the OP though so here goes... Although it is possible to grow at elevated temperatures it is FAR from ideal. Im sure that if growers like Chipper and others who have temp problems could change the circumstances, no matter how difficult, they would. It is a fact that trichome and terpens break down a a MUCH higher metabolic rate for each degree in excess of 85*. In addition, with temps that high and your decision to use bagseed, I can assume you dont have plans of throwing a shit ton of money into a hydro setup right? So assuming you are using soil as a medium I can safely say the humidity inside that shed might pose a bigger problem during lights off than the heat. Id bet donuts that your gonna be pushing 70%+ during flower wich will just mold your shit up anyways. My opinion, if its just bagseed, germ those fuckers and throw them in the ground somewhere, prolly get better results for NO money.-S0uP

Afternoon people, I have put temp probe into a empty nutrient bottle. Should this be OK for a accurate reading? It has just gone lunch time and probe has been in position for a couple of hours, here is whet it reads

One thing i DO try and maintain is water temperature, keeping it in low 20's. Water over 27 degrees and your asking for trouble!!

Better thermometer placement!
And you are still hot! As expected....
I got my thermometer in an open-ended white cardboard tube. I like the idea of allowing some air circulation.

The end of the bottle has been cut off, with the probe about 1 inch from the bottom of the bottle

The plants are in the light as well, not in the shade.

Growing weed in hot temps has been proven a million times to not be good.

If you think it is good, maybe you are the newb here.

agreed iv lost and seen whole crops lost because of high heat i have a open mind and can admit if im wrong.

theres no fine line that determines what is too hot too many factors come into play to draw that line, my ideal is 68-84 (the range i feel comfortable growing plants in furthermore imo seem to grow the best in unstunted and unstressed)

veg up to 90 and make it humid they like it= fast growth, the ideal temp is around 85 veg. flower depending on strain . 75 to 85 . there is a lot of debate on this, you will not get a correct answer, impossible, its likes asking what are the best nutrients , who knows, if using co2, only way to take advantage of it is to have it 80 to 85 . never lower then 65 at night . if you going over 90 take a large chance less dence buds any hotter then that kills thc. your smokeing a air ball,

no, im pretty sure you only have forum head knowledge and are stuck in its paradigm. you can grow A WEED in 90+s temps cat...no way around it. stop worshiping this plant

I would love to grow in ideal conditions, and not in a boiling hot tin shed. My house sits at prefect temperature and humidity, but that would mean kicking one of the kids out into the shed and me taking their room. Missus wont let me:-(

It's funny people saying about it being too hot for cannabis etc. I wanna make a point. Where does cannabis come from. Hot ass countries that's where. Aghanistan ,Pakistan ,india ,south america ,Thailand , Africa. You have a read of the weather forecast for any of those places.100 - 120 degrees most days of summer

good point but when grown outdoors the situation varies, when guerrilla growing you bury your buckets in the ground so only the top of the plant is above ground similar to how it naturally grows it maybe 100 something outside but 2ft underground its 70 why do you think its always so cold in a basement. in hydro res temps cannot be any higher the 82 i know someone is going to pick apart the statement about hydro..

First of all, MJ is NOT a weed, it is only referred to as weed. 2nd, yes it will slowly grow and be shitty as hell in high temps.

3rd, if you are too stupid to realize heat effects your crappy buds, then no more reason for me to address you.
