Hi all indoor cfl growers !!!

So i am an outdoor grower but i want to veg my outdoor plants inside for a bit first, so this is were you guys come in !!! ohk so i can either go and buy a 14w led grow panel that i can plug strait into the wall which costs $100 of i can make a cfl grow light !!!! I live in New Zealand how can i make a light less than $100 ??

So how do i wire light up and stuff to have a light like the photos down bottom ( these photos ARE NOT mine, very sorry to steal the pics !!!! )

so on the pic where the bulb hooks into, how is that wired up ect... !!! help out
because i tried to wire a light up and it had no ground wire ect.. lets just say the smoke alarms work !!! k

i want cfls cause they are cheap, less heat and i dont want a hps !!! fuck hps !!
here are the pics !!! i want lights like these !!! YEAH

go to a hardware store and buy a regular florescent tube hood lamp with 2 tubes in it and use one of those for every 2 plants you have. You can also buy little work lights that have clamps on them to use for side lighting. Just line the room your using with mylar or chrome wrapping paper and thats all you need for a cheap cfl grow. Been using that for 2 years now and its produced about 3 ounces every 6 months for me and cost about $60 - $70.

well you can get the hanging light sockets and attach a y splitter on each one cut holes in a white cardbord to make your reflector and i used a white priject board for the back and sides.....the front is open

sounds to me you wired up your fixture very wrong, when you are dealing with house curent you have 2-3 wires, a hot(colored, usualy red or black), a nuetral(usualy white), and a ground (usualy green). not all fixture require a ground, this depends on what its mounted to, since i assume you are using wood or plastic, you need that ground. as far as wiring, most, not all, have three colored screws a gold for hot, a silver for nuetral and green for ground, hope this helps.

metal halide for veg not hps.

theres many different ways to go with cfl's. it really depends on your situation. check out my link for my first grow. i made an easy grow light with just a board, socket, extension chords, and y adapters. your best bet is to research others and figure out what works best for you.

You are gonna be disappointed on the yield go do some research before you knock HID lighting I've been growing for some years and I've seen some change in led but not much and CFL for the amount of bulbs used you're better off with HID but it's your time and money. I was just trying to help good luck. You'll be buying a HID light after you see your results.

grab some clamp fixtures, a few Y sockets and all the 24W CFL's (at 5Ksunlight) you can get your hands on. A little mylar on the walls and you are running for cheap.
I wish I could send my girls outdoors for flowering but they would either be swiped or reported to the cops.

Good luck with the grow.

pet stores have them, by hanging they mean clamp lamps or brooder lamps depending on your store. hardware/home improvement stores are also a good place, or walmart or similar.

Hey bro, I don't know how many plants you plan on vegging but you don't need much light for veg with cfl's.. Anything more than 50 watts per plant would be overkill in my opinion.. Thats if your only planing on vegging for 2-3 weeks, obviously if you plan on vegging for months you will need more light :) I think your making a good decision going with cfl's though, if your planing on growing a lot of plants it would probably be easier to get the t-5 floresent tubes for the top and maybe some of the cfl bulbs for the sides.. Either way, cfl's will get you perfect growth for what your looking for!

Here's my wonderwoman I grew for about 4 weeks under only 50 watts of 6500k daylight cfls.. That was with 2 other plants too!! So you get my point:mrgreen:

My buddie uses the t-5 tubes for veg and clones, they work just as good!

If I could have put this WW outside after vegging she would be a monster!! Next year I plan on doing something similar to what your gonna do.. Wow this was longer than I expected to write lol.. time to go smoke some short rider!
