how to get bigger colas?

hermies are a product of poor breeding and fems. So if you have good stable genetics. They wont herm at all.
Hermies are a product of nature....
Poor breeding doesnt help cull the trait, fems have nothing to do with it.

As far as the OP, I dont like big colas. I do my best to make a lot of smaller buds and avoid having big giant buds. Big, dense buds are too susceptible to budrot.

If you're getting bud rot on any sized cola then your grow room conditions are obviously not ideal. Better air circ / dehumidifier if necessary
Spend a few hours trimming up 2 Oz of schwag or 1 hour trimming 6 Oz of bud (& I'm slow) it's your choice

saying its nature is very vague. Thats a poor argument. Poor breeding selections. Breeding with unstable genetics. Unfortunately its very common. Now fems are very susceptible to being hermie because they don't have the recessive traits and stress recovery traits that comes from the father plant. Fems can't handle the slightest amount of stress. So they herm.

Dude, what are you talking about, have you ever even grown a fem?

I grow fems and regs side by side for years and years, and what you are saying simply isnt true.

Bad breeding is bad breeding whether it is fem or regs.

.everything I said is factual. One day you'll learn. Talk to any reputable breeder.. They'll say the same thing.

I've grown fems over the years and 60% of them hermie. If they collodial silver good chance of getting herms. If made the old school way letting a female go an extra 3 weeks or so to produce fem pollen naturally instead of inducing it. Have a lesser chance of being herms but still a chance. Theres always good 1 good one out of a 100 . But that's it. No reputable breeder will work with fems anymore or even produce them.

Bro if you are getting 60% hermies you have some serious issues, not the seeds. Wow I would be flipping out if even 10% of mine were hermies. You have something really wrong sorry to break the news to you.

Lmao what ever you say. Obviously you haven't ran that many. that's why most seed companies stopped carrying fems in 2006. Several other refuse to make them. To unstable bro..... I haven't ran a fem in 6 years. Better success with regs. I pop easily 200 + seeds a year. Been doing this since 96

You can say whatever you like but seriously if people were getting hermies 1 out of 2 plants NO ONE would grow them.
I get at worst 1 out of 15-20 plants. Last hermie I had was South African Kwazulu (regular seeds) that hermied around week 19 in flower. I took it to week 26 before cutting it down. The last fem seed hermie I had was HSO Bubba Kush about 2 years ago.

You must have bought your fem seeds from the worst breeders ever, like Greenhouse seeds or some other crap company.

HYROOT just can't grow, so he finds other things to blame his lack of skills on

yes, 60% hermie is a ridiculous thing to say , i think he is just bullshitting
perhaps if he had only grown a few different fem seeds, some of the fem seed produces are complete wankers
and make terrible seeds

but he said he has grown fem seeds "over the years"
and 60% of all of the them hermie, astounding

That is a very high rate of hermie, i am not overly keen on fems myself i have seen a few hermies more so than with reg seeds but nowhere near 60%
you're exaggerating right ?
I agree, 60% really? All I grow is fem seeds. And rarely get a hermie. Chucks post above explains his hermie rate. Those are some stressed out plants for sure. Looks like the never ending abuse of P runs rampant in Hyroots garden.

In the state im in 5 plants is a felony. So sticking to four fems are the way to go. Year after year. Drought, heavy rains, excessive heat, excessive cold. Indoors I open my cab sometimes after lights out, hell even pin hole light leaks in some of my first cabs. All those FEMS with different stresses and not one Hermie.

I understand that what looks good on paper doesn't always equate to the real world.

So to say that FEMS are more prone to hermming is a vague statement that's not really true.

It really goes back to the breeder and genetics. If something were prone to hermming and you fem it out, well it was prone to hermming anyways.
Now quality genetics and you fem it, well there really no increase in the chances of a herm.

I agree completely with you. If it is a hermie prone piece of crap to begin with, femming it is going to carry the trait.
If you have a solid, tested female and you fem it, you will have a solid line of fems to grow. We know a lot of breeders are not ethical and will not go through any rigorous testing which then makes others equate fems to bad genetics.

There are some really, really good fem breeders out there such as Dinafem, Female Seeds, Delicious Seeds, Sweet Seeds, etc.

No doubt.

You take some guerrilla grows I've done. Its not always possible to hike miles every other day in a bad year to water or check for pest. Ive stressed the hell out of some FEMS and every one was fine.

I also have a belief that pot that has struggled to live in harsh conditions and survived normally turns out to be fire.
