so I was going to use either t5 or led for my small box I'm building which will be 8 feet long 3.5 feet high and maybe 3 feet deep. I hooked the fan and light up last night and the tube stayed pretty cool. My question is should the fan pull or blow on the light?

Blow imo I have a separate fan just to cool the light but that all depends on how good your fan is for your filter...

I also prefer to have my fun blowing cold air over the light and exhausting it rather than sucking the hot air out.

Well the fan is a 4 inch can- fan ho...the filter is a can 33... When I used them b4 I had zero smell but my temps where high but that was my error. My run was to high in a drying system that I couldn't inspect

the fan should blow over the light .......if u pull u are doing damage to the motor with the heat and a chance the fan will cut off (most fans have a heat kill switch in them 130/140 it turns off to prevent fire)

fuck T5s they are good for starting a plant or mothers .....other then that they suck for production
LED is going to be best choice but u are going to need 2 of them with a 8 foot length

With the led the plant can't touch the light right? This is why I said I would find a way to use my hps and keep it cool.

no they can touch (if the LED is not heavy on IR bulbs or UV

it is is T5 they can not touch those bulbs get hot ........led the plants will form thicker leaves due to the high degree of light penetration from the led/lens

the only issue u might have is the air direction for the leds some suck from the side and blow up some suck from the top and blow out the side .......so u need to account for this in hanging height and venting paths

T5 u are going to need atleast 6 inches to 10 inches for the heat to expand into too

That's why I wanted to run the cool tube if I'm able to keep it cool I wouldn't have problems with bud development. The issue I would have is light spread. But that can be worked one with the right light reflector

no light on the planet does a 8 foot print not that i know of
your length is the issue 8 feet
1000w is 6 ft good in 5 ft great in
600w is 5ft good in 4ft great in
400w is 4ft good in 3 ft great in

these are the lights that need 10 inches atleast of grow room between the light and top of the plant .......rem HPS is 70% ir heat and MH is 40% ir heat

I think I'm going to have to stick to one of the closets. I have a closet in the back room a lil smaller then 2x4

then a 600w on full power will do a killer plant or 2

cooltube with a 240 cfm 6 inch booster fan ....running a passive intake (passive intake needs to be 12x12 inches )
