Do i have seeds on just a cpl of plants, top buds, with no males and no hermies, i went through every plant bud site by bud site no male parts or flowers ANYWHERE in my grow....and if their was, with my fans blowing like they are EVERY plant should have gotten pollen if there were any male sites in my grow....but low and behold 2 of 12 has a few seeds at just the top bud sites so far....

Could i have brought pollen in on me from somewhere? I havent been in any other grows and its to cold for anyone to have a male outside somewhere.

Clones from my mothers, no male parts anywhere on any plants, i checked all of them site by site. :cuss::fire: And its only been so far about 2 or 3 seeds ( i say 2 or 3 because one was kinda mangled after i found it and only slightly resembled a seed) total between the 2 plants....i just dont get it.

How long is pollen viable for after released from a male?

Bonus. Grab 'em up. Maybe you'll bring other pheno's out of the seedlings.

Guess ill save em plant them and call it Jesus.....the weed from a virgin mother.

Sounds like you've been runnin this strain for a minute, maybe stress? Hard to say.

I always grow from seed so when I get a plant that has only a few seeds I get a little chuckle...makes me feel like I got one over on the man. :bigjoint:

Oh hey, just thought of something...we're those seedy buds on the door side of your space by chance? Or near any new electrical gadgets you may have picked up?

On the top buds closest to the light? Hottest part? Is it an haze?
I've had this happen and produce seeds o think it's heat directly under light hence only top buds.
Do the top buds look open a bit if so it's probably heat stress caused it imo

Not really door side, i use my whole basement, i get where you are going though, and they were the most likely to get light polution though.

So a plant with a few seeds is not real uncommon then? Could a plant produce a cpl seed pods without being fertlized by pollen?
I have it happen pretty often. Last grow had 1 Jack, 1 GrapeFruit Kusk and 2 MK Ultras. Same space, light, food...etc. 1 of the MK Ultra had a just few beans and one didnt have any. The Jack straight beaned out. Dozens, still smokable but lots of seed. The Grape Fruit has given me 3 seeds. So, as you can see....quite eclectic.

Basically its not a worrie and i should just see where the seeds come from location wise on the plant and if mostly to and outside buds probly travling pollen or just some kind of weird occurance that does happen from time to time

They all started that way. All from either Nirvana or Attitude picked up quite a few years back. Now I have a pretty decent collection from the ones that have given me seeds. The Jack is awesome awesome weed so I am always happy to get a seedy run from it.

Hermaphroditism can have 2 origins: genetic and environmental.

Genetically, some marijuana strains are more sensitive to hermaphroditism than others. This can be explained by the genetic origins of the strain – Thai sativas, for example, usually reach a high percentage of hermaphrodite plants – or also by the technique used when producing seeds (GA3,…).

Regardless its genetic sensitivity, a marijuana plant can also become hermaphrodite by the influence of stress. When it feels that the flowering conditions are too hard, hermaphroditism is an effective and natural way to shorten this period, pollinating its female flowers with the pollen of a few male clusters (usually called “bananas”).

Stress, that highly increases the risk of hermaphroditism, may have several causes, such as:

  • Changes in the photoperiod, specially interruptions of the dark period during flowering
  • Too much heat (>27°C aproximately), wrong environmental conditions
  • Harvesting too late, when the grower misses thedeadline for harvesting his/her plants
  • Mechanical stress: broken branches, damaged roots, pruning during flowering,…
  • Irrigation issues (lack or excess)
  • Over-fertilisation
  • Insects, mites, diseases…
  • Thermal stress (irrigating plants with cold water…)
  • Use of phytotoxic products (pesticides, fungicides…)
Take from it what u will lads copy paste

There are some really good threads on here about how to do just. Lots of caution taken when doing it to avoid over pollination as you've suggested. It looks like it takes a great deal of patience to ferret out genetic characteristics you like. :weed:

Oh im sure it may take a cpl of rounds of crossing the plants you want the traits from back and forth to get what you want...you would almost need a male of each after your first cross im thinking.
