How tall do you all let your tops get during LST?

I've got 4 in my tent now and usually want my canopy to be 3' long x 3' wide which is where they're at now. The last few runs, the colas were about 14" when they finished. I wanted to experiment a little and stop training towards the end of veg to let them get a little taller. Just worried that they'll get too bushy or uncontrollable when I flower them.

I grew outdoor for about 15 years but have only been growing indoors for the last year or two... it's definitely a whole other world. I'd. Train my outdoor plants but with pieces of fencing that had 6"x6" squares.
At this point, I'm still trying to dial everything in to get what I want out of these plants.

Right there with you! Going from outdoors to indoors is like learning how to grow all over again! Lol

I topped for 4 mains, supercropped, pulled all my branches outward, and then once I had an even canopy, I just let them grow up to about 12”-18” tall, then flipped after 24 hr dark. I am 15 days from flip today. This pic was taken Thursday. They are in 3 gal pots 100% living soil organic grow and including the pot, I am sitting at about 28” now and stretch seems to have already slowed. This could be somewhat strain dependent, but the longer you veg the less you stretch. Most strains have a general height max, add in training techniques like topping, and container size constraints and you can guesstimate your expected height prior to flipping.

I generally shoot for 18”x18” from the soil. But that is just me. I would rather grow 4-5 big plants that fill a 4x4 than a bunch of smaller ones.
I grow 4 under a 1000
My veg plants are usually about 2x2’ cubes
Some times they get up to 30” tall if I’m waiting for a longer strain to finish up.

I do like this style , but if I had a unlimited plant count, I’d have have 4 plants per square foot , flip clones as soon as there is roots , or 1 plant per sqf and veg for a week-10 day .
Bang for buck it’s hard to beat SOG

I just measure from the rim of the buckets (5 gallon) where I have them tied. I've been thinking about bumping that up to 7 1/2 gallons recently..
They've been under 18/6 for about 2 months now. + or - a week.

I have a bunch of clones rooting now and planned on giving SOG a whirl in the very near future. I'd like to get a new hood with a bigger footprint before I toss them in my tent though.
