How rare are original strain seeds. Columbia gold etc

Landrace strains are becoming increasingly rare. So much so that there are breeders and growers who spend a lot of time and money finding and preserving landrace genetics and legendary early crosses.

Todd McCormick was in Grow Magazine recently and it sounded like he really is trying to bring back the old school varieties (even Mel Frank collection). Cannot say I have purchased anything but I am so tempted to do some NLD. Did I tell you about the Thai Stick I got at Christmas time back in '83...

Are original old school strain seeds still available. I mean non-hybrid columbia gold and others from back in the day. If found would they be valuable?
The funny thing is most of the popular strains in the last 20 years have been cuts from the originals or crosses of them and crosses of their crosses etc.

I'm actually planning to do a landrace sativa after my Bruce Banner finishes up, thanks for the link. I like doing single plant scrogs and don't mind a long veg/flower. I grow for personal consumption and focus on quality over quantity/efficiency:bigjoint:... Definitely interested in the southeast asian varieties that take 14-16+ weeks to flower.

One of the points from the magazine article was to start them on 12/12 from the beginning since they are from the equator and flowering and vegging at the same time. Damn sounds like I am convincing myself to get out my credit card again. :weed:
