Oh absolutely. It's just girls get pressured more than boys do but none of us can escape it.

I've been in shape my entire life ;never been fat at all but did for the first time and it doesn't feel good. Not that I ever made fun of fat people because I didnt'. My best gurlfriend was overweight and I loved her dearly. I also know of the personal struggle she went through because of it. Very sad.

I've now lost most of the excess weight and understand more of what others feel like being over weight. I suppose I have more empathy for fat people and try and look beyond that.

before i get called any more names,, let me throw some things out.

Arent we as a species supposed to propagate? Isnt it vital that the best genes are passed down? Why would one pick an inferior mate? And i swear I'm not being an asshole, but it has been studied that women are attracted to a safe secure male for 3 weeks out of the month, and super attracted to the rugged, tough, good looking guys for the other week. Why, because the alpha males have better genes.
Im not saying its right, but nature plays a huge role in our picking of a partner.

hmmm... i probably figured that out my freshman year, i started going out with a classmate that was a really good friend and had a lot of respect for me and i respected her. and all my other "friends" were like wat u doing she doesnt look good at all!,look at her gut, shes as big as u are!!!, and my responce was really? i didnt notice! lol. the only thing i saw was her personality and the way she treated me and if you have a good looking girl that also has a good personality,looks is just the icing on the cake

what i mean.. is.. we are wired to pick a mate based on looks and hip size etc.. but we should not let that be the criteria to do stupid things..

male ducks can team up on a female duck and they all try and have sex with her..

they use limited criteria when picking a mate... humans should not say that it is OK to do the same..

We are not animals to that degree as we are 'supposed' to have higher consciousness. Unfortunately not all of us do. No of course humans should not say it is ok to do the same. I would think and hope we were much more evolved and refined than to resort to this insane way of thinking.

I agree that people's natural radar is off by a long shot because of social conditioning. Most people don't even understand how much they are influenced by everything that they see and some things that they don't really see like in subliminal advertising.

I will even go as far as to say that most humans have shut off their 6th sense to the point where it doesn't work any more or works very poorly. That is one thing that animals have over us in that they do use their 6th sense a lot. In fact a lot of their senses are very acute.

I know this is getting off topic but but I watched 'Dogs with Jobs' today and there was a Italian greyhound that could detect when its owner was going to have either a panic attack or an epileptic seizure. The dog would warn its owner before the attack took place. Gang rape may actually be a more modern.. "invention". I know of no instances in the natural primate world of such a thing that is used for the same reasons humans use it. That is to say that, in the animal world one could likely surmise that gang rape is simply the frenetic attempts by many males to pass along their genetic material, whereas in the human arena its use is decidedly more nefarious -- to subjugate, intimidate, and bring power over an individual or group of people.

I don't blame television for this, that's too trite, too easy. And, face it, Knowm, we've been fucked up for FAR, far longer than we've had television, including regarding our choices in mates. The human brain is incredibly complex and is a fascinating area of study. There are SO many influencing factors that we cannot even begin to ascribe certain behaviors to any but the largest subsets.

I would agree that television and other media definitely skew perspective. However, I also assert that our brains' complexity skews plenty already. Just look at certain phobias, the kind that make no sense whatsoever, like a phobia of feathers. No one has been killed or suffered bodily harm from feathers, yet there are people out there who are phobic about feathers. What triggers our brains, and thus our behavior, is extremely complicated and more than we understand right now.

I don't know any people who are in the super cool crowd, who watch TV everyday.. every person I know tat owns a TV... is a mind based human... this is not to say that TV is the cause... nor am I saying that it is an indicator.. but rather a foot note..

Even for the most advanced practitioners, watching the mid and TV watching are nearly impossible...

Watching TV is kinda like meditation... except instead of the the mind stopping and BONDING with

"ALL THAT IS"

the mind goes quiet and gets re programmed by the CHATTER of the TV... t can happened to even the most determined guardians of the chatter..
