How much will 2 plants SMELL?

if it is any consolation I grew 4 plants in my basement in my first tent i bought I did not have a carbon filter all I had was ionizers and fans, it stunk up my whole house....I now have an 8 inch carbon filter and High velocity inline fan exhaust fan....so the answer is undoubtably yes they stink.....but stink so good!!

I have two plants on my first grow right now and they do smell but not nearly to the extent that people will have you believe. I bought a 10' box fan and a carbon filter for furnaces and stuff that I taped over the back of the fan. The fan pulls the air through and does a pretty good job for 30$. I recommend going this route. I have honestly gotten compliments on how clean and almost chemically the smell is. When people would come over after flowering started, they would almost immediately stick their nose in the air for a whiff, I would be paranoid and ask what they smell and they always said it smells like a really clean (carbon scrubbed) chemically smell. I probably won't invest in something bigger until absolutely necessary.

2 plants will smell like a skunks anus if grown properly.

Take a pic of your contraption....i am truly interested in your engineering....I think I understand you but would love to see it...I have a buddy who is just starting out and is having to ball on a budget right now so I will show him your contraption....thanks

They will smell like marijuana . If you decide to grow in a closet , keep in mind that anything that you leave in the closet will absorb the marijuana smell . Your clothes for instance. You might not smell it but I promise you , others will smell it.

If you put your nose within about a foot of the plant it's pretty obvious and sometimes I'll get a pretty strong fragrance right after lights on but it's mostly all good.
I'm also a newb grower and know that I'm not getting the full potential out of my plants yet.

This is perfect for a small grow, or closet..... $60, and you just need an inline fan with it...

It matters on how much smell you need to cover. My grow op doesnt need/use a carbon scrubber as my grow location is far enough away from the noses of others that the smell would never be an issue. My grow op also doesn't have guests either. So for me its not practical to get one. I could but i dont mind the smell.

If you have visitors you'll probably need a scrubber. if you live alone without visitors then the smell probably wont make it out the door. or you might get away with some ona gel or something. 2-3 plants wont put off too much smell but it also depends on the strain and how big they are. 2-3 lil plants in a pcgrow = covered by ona gel easily...2-3 5ft monsters = carbon scrubber.

If smell is an issue there are low/no odor strains out there you just have to look for them.

I love growing northern lights my all time fav and to answer your question fuck yes they stink!!!

If anybody here is wanting to grow doing your research on the subject and the equipment you need is just as crucial as where your going to do it. INVEST IN SOME SORT OF CARBON FILTRATION there are many out there and a wide variety of prices look around ebay amazon, HTG Supply....come on really is this really a respectable question.....DOES WEED STINK?.....DOES A BEAR SHIT IN WOODS? DOES A POLAR BEAR SHIT ON ICE? When you take a really big bong hit do you smell it? When you fart can you taste it?....lmao....YES MARIJUANA IS A STINKY PLANT!!!

Some have said certain breeds smell like other things rather than straight weed.

Ok yea, I just harvested my critical and have it hanging in a cardboard box and it wreaks in here now. It is in another room now and it definitely makes a difference. I'm sure for a newb the boxfan and carbon furnace filter would work but I could see how it wouldn't work for more than a few, small plants.

Thats right they will stink, Jayfury knows the funk. I am currently having to use a BCNL Bloombox and Roomate.
Both have carbon filters attached and I have a can fan 900 in the room and ONA blocks throughout the house.
I even have to rub the ONA block on the walls if there's going to be visitors.

I'd advise a lot of extra attention to cleanliness. Do the extras like clean up with aromatic sanitizers.
Clean the carpets if you can or buy a carpet cleaner even. It just makes the house smell nice.
Its a stinky thing but growing sure beats buying.

Glade plugins on every outlet of the house......LOL.....Incense is a good mask if you are having company over and you only have few plants...

Lol, would you believe that NL is actually considered a "low-odour" strain? Try growing a plant with AK genetics in it...it's not so much a smell as a thick musk!

OP Id advise just spending the money to get a proper inline fan with separate carbon filter. You could spend $300+ trying half ass remedies, but I'd you get a fan and filter separate joined with ducting if anything fails you just have to replace it, not the whole system.

It's really not worth the risk, say a single wiff got out and someone smelt it? Up shit-creek with no paddle. And Iv found carbon filters work 100% if the ducting joins are airtight, no weed smell AT ALL.

if your growing them outside i dont think it will be as much of an issue as if you were growing inside. with them being outside the natural wind will do all of the odor dispersion for you. where if you were growing inside your whole house (or at least a decent section of it) would reek and you would have to disperse the smell yourself.

i grew one plant in my closet and with the closet door closed and the bedroom door closed you couldn't smell it outside the bedroom..i think it was a haze it was a spicy kinda smell..

I'll have 3 plants if I'm lucky (based on my fledglings now). They're bag seed, so I have no idea of the strain. I have no way to vent my closet for a carbon scrubber to blow the air out.

I did however discover that my DeLonghi Air Purifier (http://www.air-purifier-power.com/delonghi-air-purifier.html) has a carbon filter as well as a HEPA quality regular filter. It also has an ionizer, but I probably won't use the ionizer.

I'm hoping that with a few cans of odor absorbing gel, the DeLonghi in the closet will work, esp. if it's constantly on and set right in the closet.

I have an extra DeLonghi too, which I can run in the house, plus maybe I'll put a few cans of odor absorbing gel around the house.

Plus -- maybe I'll flower and harvest before the plants are monsters (if I'm lucky enough to get'em that far).

My biggest problem is that the closet is right next to the front door of my place, so anyone standing outside the door might get a whiff unless I'm careful. And any visitors (maintenance guys, etc.) will walk right past my babies, so the odor has to be completely covered.

I tell ya, the more I learn, the more I see why most people don't grow their own. But I really don't like drug dealers (and I really like weed), so I guess I'll stick with growing if I can.
