I had all four of mine removed. It was pretty fun. 
I chose to just go with the novocaine. There ended up being a problem with one of them, and the guy got out a little saw and cut a big groove into the tooth, then stuck a fancy screw driver thing into the groove and broke the tooth in half, then pulled the two pieces out. Aside from that tooth though, it wasn't so bad.
