Dude! Get the gas. I just had it done 9 months ago, and I didn't remember shit about it. Imagine taking nitrus hits for like 30 minutes straight!

Wanna hear my dads experience? 47 injections by the end of it. Man up i say. I've gone under the drill without anesthetic before.

I put mine off for years also...I am one of those weird people that had 5 wisdom teeth, all impacted. I expected the worse, was warned they might even break my jawbone.

It wasn't fun, a lot of pushing pressure and hearing some teeth breaking is not a pleasant thing, but that was about it....afterward I realized I had suffered all those years for nothing...so glad to get it over with.

After mine were pulled, I kept waiting for my mouth to swell and turn black and blue.....it never did. It didn't hurt as bad as an abscess.... and they give you pain pills. Just follow instructions after, keep everything nice and clean and you will be proud that you got it over with.

They will just keep getting abscessed until you get them out. Not only does it hurt, it's really unhealthy for your body. If the abscess gets really bad, it can eat into your jawbone.

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled at once a few years ago. I had a really good oral surgeon/dentist that pulled them. I was given that twilight type of anesthesia, so I don't remember anything and I can honestly say there wasn't that much pain involved directly after they were pulled. However, a day or 2 after is when I started having pain. oddly enough, it felt like I had 4 teeth ripped out of my head....lol...yes, it hurt.....I was on Vicodin for a few days. Slept most of the time and after a few days the pain started to let up.

Was pain involved? Yes
Will you survive? Yes
Will you ever want to go through it again? NO .......lol

Get them all done at once and be done with it, because chances are you wont be willing to go back and do it again!

Best of luck!

For sure! I didn't want my wisdom teeth pulled but had to due to an abcess. Weird sensation, not much pain to speak of until AFTER but the pain script takes the edge off. Best thing I've done for my dental health!

I had all 2 pulled in marine corps boot camp one in okinawa japan in 07 and one in iraq is 05back in 04 got 3 days bed rest in boot camp then back into training during field month. In iraq got it pulled 4 days later back on patrols with my squad in haditha , iraq .Its not that bad bro. If it gets infected (dry socket SUCKS) they got good antibiotics out there to treat it rather quickly :-D. Not that i condone the use of them but they sure do help. Keep your mouth clean and youll be fine.

Also during surgey i just got anesthesia and a rubber block in my mouth to keep it open felt zero pain what so ever just very weird when they started to pull the tooth out just felt a lil pressure what was dam uncomfortable was when they had to scrap some of the gum off the wisdom teeth that were still in there il never forget that noise blahhhh But it was worth it to get a few days off training :-D ahh how i miss those days hehe

Yeah but the thing is mine is in the gum, they gotta cut the gum, then extract it. I cant go under anastesia, and I have a fear of nitrous. So my only option is novacaine which is only temp relief cause I just got over being a opiate addict so that means no pain killers...FML...

It sounds like you are going to have a pretty major extraction. Honestly, you should double check with your oral surgeon to make sure you can't use that twilight anesthesia. If he has to start cutting your gums and all that to extract your teeth your going to need more than some local Novocaine.

it sucks dude and is definitely uncomfy for a couple weeks or more. have to really watch what you eat. no fried food because that crunch from the batter can get stuck in those holes in your mouth and cause the dry sockets.

My bad brother i didnt mean anesthesia meant local Novocaine. They had to cut out my top 2 cuz they were still mostly under the gums. Just a tiny bit was peeking out. You really dont feel anything.

congrats on kickin those pills...i dont take any pills ever, never have. not even advil n i had spinal fusion last year, i would say mix up a strong batch of tincture and u can drop in mouth to numb pain after dentist. n take a pass on that xanax. that is more harmful than the dentist drill good luck

I had mine pulled without being put to sleep. Just a little numbing shot, awake the whole time. The worst part is the day after, when your mouth is swollen and bleeding. It feels better to have them out though, so its worth it. Just be careful smoking afterwards. Dry sockets can fuck you up worse than having the teeth pulled. I made one of THESE to get me through it. Good luck.

LOL, I had severely impacted teeth and it was a breeze. OK, there were a few discomforts, but overall it was smooth even with complications.

IMO, The small amount of discomfort is nothing compared to the torture you've put yourself through.... Seriously, just do it.

You are not being a "pussy", you just got a Pavlovian or conditioned response stuck in your head. After the first few times of backing out due to anxiety, you formed a "habit" of sorts in your brain. It is an automated response now. You can break the response by going through with the procedure. Don't let the anxiety of the conditioned response psyche you out.

Conditioned responses can be good if they benefit us, but gone awry like this one, they can really screw with your life. Realize that you brain just got stuck in a bad loop and you need to break that loop. Get the teeth pulled, you'll be glad you did it for more reasons than one.

P.S. I had my gums cut (all four) and did not need any pain killers beyond Ibuprofen. You could very well do the same.

I hope this helps....
