How does selling somebody a gay cake violate your religious freedom?

If I own a business I should be able to serve who I want. I don't understand how the government has any right dictating my customers to me. It's my money and my business so I should be free to deny service anytime I want. If you don't like it, go get your phuckin' cake made somewhere else. This is America and I can do without guberment cramming things (no pun intended) down my throat.

Man is the only animal who has yet to find a balance, we excel at extremes and those found on the outside of the current zeitgeist will be ostracized.

If you are a store owner you can deny service to anyone you choose. If you were a lawn mower you could deny someone service for any reason you feel fit. it is this persons own choice to not serve these types of people, others in the community can protest him for this any then he brought his own demise. Its like the soup nazi he denied some people serve for random reasons and no one made a big deal about it. i bet during big sports game certain places refuse service to fans of the opposite team. is that denying someone their basic civil liberties? if a owner of a store doesn't have the choice to serve who they choose that is denying someone their civil liberties.

OK, so you maintain that a store owner should have this freedom... What if you are a landlord or homeowner... Do you have the right not to rent/sell to black people? What if you are an employer? A private hospital?

I was 12, living in a WASPY suburb outside of Berkeley, and the Anita Bryant stuff hit the news. I wasn't from a particularly political or passionate family (no one ever attended a protest, nor did we go to church), and I didn't have much of an understanding of what Gay was, aside from references from Three's Company (because that was so close to reality!). But I saw Anita Bryant on tv, and heard her awful remarks which she tried to wrap up in religion, and I announced to my parents that our family would join the orange juice ban. (and we did.) I don't know if it really changed ANYthing, but I'd like to think it did.

I guess my point is that if these bakers want to act like this, it will come back to bite them in the butt. This publicity will stick around for a long time. People remember cruelty.
