Or maybe because they have a better grasp of the English language than you do. If someone is discussing a god in general, then it is small 'g,' if they are referring to the specific monotheistic god in the Jewish and Christian bibles, then the use of God, big 'g' is appropriate because that is considered a proper name/title. Some people prefer to use Yahweh when talking about that specific desert tribal deity so there is less confusion and some do so because of pure laziness and don't think it's possible to insult an imaginary being, but of course some believers will just automatically assume and accuse us of doing it as a protest against religion.

I just read your question...Personally I have struggled with this kind of question myself. The conclusion I came to was that somewhere inside people know that they are responsible but the belief in miracles for doing absolutely nothing is a perverted religious idea that is the result of two millenias of social distortion by elite thinkers. Some people just know that they arent going to get better, and some just dont want to. I don't think its wrong to say that these people have given up and need to believe in something akin to salvation.

Or maybe just get her a copy of The Essene Gospel of Peace and quote passages of the bible having to do with taking care of the body so they have no excuses if you really want to be a dick...

That may very well be one of the stupidest things I've heard, but thats no short list. News flash, your going to die, we all are, how are we in control of this again? So when you get a terminal disease, its your fualt? Granted, they're are times thats true, but I know of a 10 yr old that has skin cancer, tell me jackass, how is this her fualt? I know people that don't take care of themselves for shit with no terminal illness, so how does that even come into play? Or is that the bullshit you feed yourself to keep yourself numb? So you don't have to face how helpless you are to the situation?

And lets get to the part of "belief in miracles for doing absolutely nothing", so what, you think they can be bought? Miracles usually equals random chance, our actions tend to have little to nothing to do with it. We like to act like we have some control, its that control we desperately seek, but the fact is many people who deserve to die live out full lives, many people who deserve to live full lives die early, and elite thinkers?!!
