Ya that's cool man. There's other things you can use to improve it. I have 20kg bags of the 2-8-4 I dont use the 4-4-4 much. Just cut the 2-8-4 with insect frass, bokashi etc.

totally agree - the 4-4-4 seemed to dump way too much N into my pots; I switched to using 2-8-4 nd then supplemented on top in my last mix that's cooking rn

I just got a used one off ebay came with no solution it was only 30 bucks. It turns on and off no problem. I just wanted to test make sure it's good. So I tested it on white vinegar came in at 2.6ph so guess it's good what do you guys think? I am withing for solution going to be a week bug I wanted to make sure its good if not I can return what do you think?

You need kci storage solution and calibration fluid ph7 and ph4. Is it bluelab? Take the kci pour it into the cap and let it sit for 24hrs. Was the probe dry? Dry probe = bad news usually. Sometimes you can rejuvenate them with a kci soak.

Got it on ebay 30 bucks total so I got solution and blue lab 4 and 7 ph on the way. Until then I tried it and seems to be good I tested white vinegar and it way okay bit I hope its st8

The dibber is used to punch a hole in the substrate, and to house the probe while not in use. Then you put the probe into the substrate to measure the ph of the substrate or into the water to measure the ph of the solution.

It's actually KCl (Potassium Chloride). Not kci. You can make your own too.

I just corrected you so the OP and everyone who reads the thread has the correct information. I'm sure some people will appreciate knowing what it is, and that you can make it yourself super cheap. May I suggest the ignore button if you don't like to be corrected.

And I didn't just capitalize what you said. It's KCL, but the L is lowercase. They're elements from the Periodic Table. K is potassium, and Cl is chlorine. There is no "i" in KCl.

Anyways, this is one of the threads about making your own, but there's more in depth ones too.
