"JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster says an investigation into Planned Parenthood operations in Missouri turns up no evidence the agency mishandled fetal tissue, as has been alleged in other states.
Koster report (read it here) says the investigation took a close look at how Planned Parenthood handles tissue at it's surgical facility in St. Louis - the only abortion clinic currently licensed in Missouri.
The report concluded there was no evidence that the facility engaged in unlawful activity.
Koster says his investigators conducted a number of interviews with representatives from Planned Parenthood and the pathology laboratory that examines fetal tissue as required by Missouri law. He said his office also reviewed thousands of pages of documents to reach the conclusion.
Investigators also tracked the handling of fetal tissue over a 30-day period. In a news release, Koster said; "Documents obtained by the Attorney General’s Office-including itemized invoices from the pathology lab charging Planned Parenthood for examination of tissue from each procedure and a certification from the disposal company verifying that the material has, in fact, been destroyed-confirm each step of this process."
The investigation was started after video was released nationwide in July, raising questions about Planned Parenthood’s practices in other states regarding the alleged unlawful sale of fetal tissue."
