"How is Planned Parenthood like Benghazi? The desire of House Republicans to investigate it can't be contained by the normal number of committees, and they're talking about a special committee to carry out a partisan witch hunt. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has a better idea: investigate the making of the anti-Planned Parenthood videos that kicked off the latest crusade to defund the organization, even if it means shutting down the government in the attempt.
CNN's Jake Tapper tried to get Pelosi to express polite shock at the reality of legal fetal tissue donation on Sunday, but she wasn't biting:
TAPPER: On the subject of the Planned Parenthood and the attempts to defund Planned Parenthood, have you seen the videos? Is there not anything on those videos that bothers you at all?
PELOSI: I don't stipulate that these videos are real. And the fact is -- and fact is that the research that is being criticized there is research that has been supported. Now, I haven't seen -- I've seen some news reports of it, but I also know that it's not real and you can create any reality that you want.
TAPPER: So OK. Even if you don't accept the videos on their face --
PELOSI: I think they should be investigated as to how they obtained those and doctored those and then had them be accepted as something that was an indictment against Planned Parenthood because that's not true.
The videos are misleading at best, and filmed through deception. And of course, they've provided the basis for outright lies from the likes of Carly Fiorina. Good for Pelosi for not taking the bait Tapper was dangling to express squeamishness about anything other than the falsehoods involved."

"WASHINGTON -- The same day the GOP-controlled House Judiciary Committee held a hearing to "expose" Planned Parenthood's "horrific abortion practices," members of another House committee announced that their federal investigation into the family planning provider has so far turned up no evidence of wrongdoing.
The Judiciary Committee brought three longtime anti-abortion activists to testify at the hearing on Wednesday, including two women who claim they "survived" botched abortions that their mothers had attempted. The Democrats were allowed one witness, a Yale University professor who supports abortion rights. Planned Parenthood was not invited to testify at the hearing.
Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) said the hearing was justified because Planned Parenthood "is granted huge amounts of federal funds, making it our business as members of Congress" to investigate its practices.
Anti-abortion activists released a series of heavily edited undercover videos last month that accuse Planned Parenthood of selling fetal tissue after abortions. But multiple state investigations and the federal investigation being conducted by the House Energy and Commerce Committee have so far been unable to find any facts to support that claim.
Just before the Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday, the ranking Democrats on the Energy and Commerce Committee announced that their investigation has found "no evidence" to support the claims that Planned Parenthood is engaged in any illegal activities.
"Over the last month, we have carefully reviewed the facts at hand and the materials provided to us as a result of the majority's inquiry," said Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone Jr. (D-N.J.) and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Ranking Member Diana DeGette (D-Co.) in a statement.
"Despite the incendiary rhetoric, we have looked strictly at the facts. We are continuing to do our due diligence, but we have found these claims to be unsubstantiated," the statement read.
Republicans on the Energy and Commerce Committee have not yet released their findings from the investigation.
The Judiciary Committee, meanwhile, did not appear to be concerned with the facts of the Planned Parenthood investigation. Lawmakers instead used the hearing as an opportunity to decry abortion in general. An emotional Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) called abortion "the worst human rights atrocity in the history of the United States of America.""
Republicans started a completely partisan investigation and now have to swallow their own medicine that they're wasting tax payer money while the Dems are trying to save it by bringing the investigation to a close. So far we're par for the course with the Conservatards and cry baby Trent Franks.

The sideshow that was the hearings on the hill "investigating" planned parenthood was a farse, all men talking about womans issues.
You would think that all PP did was provide abortions ... In reality it is 3% of PP services. Federal money is prohibited by law from funding abortions and has been for decades. In fact it is paid for in cash or private insurance that is paid for by the individual. Tell me again how the GOP is not waging a war on women.

Where is the outrage on the right about wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars on meaningless hearings? How much money was wasted on Benghazi hearings? Now that the pukes have control of both chambers of Congress I dare say when has any meaningful passage of any bill occur in this Congress? I thoght they were going to show the American people they know how to govern! Yeah right!
