I couldn't help but jump in on this one.
He should have been fired for horseplay and hurting you on the job. The kids a liability to your employer. That said I would have kicked his ass but I still have another 4 years till I'm 50, hehe.

Everyone deserves a second chance. Hell we all did stupid stuff at 18.

He apologized and was a different person after. I was sub contracting for another contractor. Sometimes its hard to find people that will do hard manual labor all day.

He probably didn't see the harm in it.
I hear you on the manual labor bit. It seems that most young people don't want to do that sort of work.
