Happy on you, too! It would be nice to have one big party. I wonder it that could happen, maybe even a once a year get together.Double 6's today. WTF? Who has the 714's?
Had a friend in the late 70's-early 80's who flew down yer way and acquired an extra suitcase or two on the return trip. Like most...they were boots... but oh my...oh my. He got em weighed out in 1000's. We took the time to count them and always ended up with quite a few "extras".Haaaaaaa haaaaaa haa haaaa Brother @Stiickygreen looking for the OG Lemon 714 Gorilla Biscuits!!
Man, I loved those things, and this in the era when anything was available. Dexamyl's were pretty sweet too.Had a friend in the late 70's-early 80's who flew down yer way and acquired an extra suitcase or two on the return trip. I should be so fortunate!
We didn't wait. Not 70 >yet!< I worked a lot outside the system and didn't pay anything in for 15 years while I was doing "other things"....so my monthly isn't what some folks receive. My wife also worked outside the system primarily....and has a 401K/etc. If you have a 401K....you get fucked @ 70 when you start talking distributions from your pension/investment portfolio. @ that point...the Windfall Elimination Program takes hold and they knack yer SS payment substantially...like 2/3 of it....gone. Doesn't matter what you "paid in". They don't want you to have what you earned...I was able to wait until 70, glad I did.
This is only pertinent to a very specific set of circumstances that affects an extremely small group of people. It’s not standard social security protocol nor something the vast majority need to be concerned with. Those who worked “outside the system” may be impacted.you start talking distributions from your pension/investment portfolio. @ that point...the Windfall Elimination Program takes hold and they knack yer SS payment substantially...like 2/3 of it....gone
With 143 million folks having some sort of pension/alternative form of investments...I thought it worth mentioning even if you didn't.This is only pertinent to a very specific set of circumstances that affects an extremely small group of people. I never heard that term before, was there any positive benefit to you from the program? We didn't wait. So we jumped in early. Shoulda done it as early as we could have. If any of you out there have a 401K or other pension funds you might want to check this stuff out.
@BarnBuster .... Only that my wife's previous employer alerted her to the change in the law in '83. I speak of it because it does affect those who were in service jobs like cops/firefighters/county workers/city/etc. Most working type folks who pay into SS have no clue that our Govermental positions don't pay into SS and have alternative programs in place. Ironic, huh? LOL. Either way...she gets to tap full benefits until they force us to take withdrawals/etc yearly. They want that tax money! I get to keep raking in the BIG bucks...no impact on my SS payout.I never heard that term before, was there any positive benefit to you from the program?
