Hi, Since I started my little grow setup about four years ago, I've had excellent results using one 1000 watt led grow fixture with a brightness control knob. I don't know how the bud I wound up with could have been any better. Then I had the "bright" idea of adding a half dozen strips of blue/red led lights I had lying around totaling about 60 watts because I thought they would fill out the color spectrum nicely, plus the more lighting the merrier, right? Well, since adding those blurple light strips I've now had three grows all herm on me. I've been blaming that herming on poor seed genetics, but my current grow is from rather pricey seeds which are bred to be genetically stable compared with other feminized seeds, and what I'm seeing is another crop of hermaphrodites. Anyone who's ever had a carefully grown crop of herb go hermie knows how freaking depressing that feels and now it's happened three times. Well it just dawned on me a couple days ago that my problem just may be the addition of the blurple light strips to my setup--there are no light leaks, I'm very careful with nutrients and watering, and the on/off lighting schedule and heating/cooling are very much under control. So... what do you all think? May all this heartbreak really have been the result of nothing but the extra lighting I've been using? I have no other variables left to consider. Thanks for any input.
