USA! So no in person help but everyone here is great about helping out if you want to go the DIY route. Shipping to South Africa might be a problem though, not sure about that part.
That's great. A lot of peeps come here and make their first post about the new LED they just bought.Luckily I haven't pulled the trigger yet on a light but I don't want to hold off to long as I want to start my grow soon.
From your list, the black dog or advanced would be your best options. Outside of that, the Apache tech AT600 is what I'd get.Hey guys I'm a long time lurker and first time poster here!
I've spent hours scouring the Internet and this forum looking for an answer to my question.
I'm currently using a 1000HPS in my 4 x 4 grow tent and I'm looking to replace it with a high quality LED grow light. I've found loads of different lights and all of them promising the best, although I've come to realize that they will say and promise just about anything to sell you their lights!
So after days of research I've managed to narrow it down to a few manufacturers. In no specific order these are the ones I've shortlisted.
Hydrogrow LED Extreme series 336X Pro - $1799

Black Dog Platinum XL-U - $1999

Advanced LED DS XML 650 - $1595

New Age LED Mega 600 - $975

From these options and your knowledge and experience which LED do you think would make a better replacement for my 1000HPS? Also if you have a better suggestion please fire away! My budget can go up to $2k if the light is good enough.
Thanks guys!
Thanks dj, 26-28c is pretty good I thought, if you added a fan above the canopy or towards the bulb the temps would be even better. Sounds like its more than possible to use a 1000w in a 4x4 tent. Im currently growing auto Durban Poison's...im sure you know all about this strain lolHey dj hope you find an led to replace your hid. Can I ask how the temp situation is like with your 1000w in a 4x4 (i assume 2m high)?
Yeah I've thought about adding a fan at the top, I'll look into that thanks. Thanks dj, 26-28c is pretty good I thought, if you added a fan above the canopy or towards the bulb the temps would be even better. I would buy none of the above. 4x4 1000watt replacement would be 4 - optic lighting 200watt vero29 3000K - I am using one now and works great.Hey guys I'm a long time lurker and first time poster here!

whats up capn? I been over on a51 forum. are we gonna get 1st dibs over there? If your not up to DIY I would wait for the Area 51 COB light using Vero 2's. Jeff the owner has said his price point will be great and they're in production now so it shouldn't be to much longer,I'll be getting some as soon they become available.
I'm not familiar at all with what you just suggested. I think I need to keep doing my research! Thanks.View attachment 3434693

but does it give you 2.5 to 3 pounds dry harvest that is what people should be lookin at when comparing it to a 1000 is yield never mind effciencyYou want the big buds= Vero29/Cree CXA/CXB 3k for straight flower and 4k for full cycle! doesn't get much easier than that! For the lighting that is! use 800 watts in the 4x4 to maximize the potential of area!
Hey captainmorgan thanks for stopping by in my thread. I've looked up Area 51 and they look like great lights even though I don't quite understand the use of only white and red LED, but I'm sure they've done their research. If your not up to DIY I would wait for the Area 51 COB light using Vero 2's. Area 51 RW's can be used for veg and flower. For veg you run just the whites and flower you add the reds, separate switches.Hey captainmorgan thanks for stopping by in my thread. Unfortunately I've also seen that Area 51 won't ship to my country, so that option is out..
