Super large 4 month old purple alien on week 4 of flower. Having a ton of issues now.


Soilmix: roots organic 707 mixed with promix organic also with about 30% perlite added and EWC & dolomite lime as well.

it’s in like maybe an 8 gallon pot. I don’t know the planter size for sure.

looks like a Calmag issue mixed with P but I’m not sure.

it’s an organic grow so I use dry amendments. Down to earth 4-4-4 and their seabird guano at 0-11-0. I also added about 4tbps of dolomite about 2 weeks ago. i top dressed with EWC and kelp meal about two days ago but I had this issue before that.


I was watering at 6.0 because the composition of the soilless medium is mainly peat but I think this might be a symptom of PH lockout. I’m starting to water at 6.5 and see if that helps.

the root system is crazy and I think it may be root bound now that I think about it. When I water it the water basically just sits on top of the medium cuz it’s all roots mostly I think and it’s compacted. But I’m way too far into flower to transplant. And I think that’s the biggest planter the store had as well.

Let me know what y’all think.

If it was me, I would do a massive flush, followed by a light feed and start loading up the microbes, I use Great White but there are a ton of them out there

Seriously dude don't listen to me, I've been growing less than a year. Still, without help thats what i would do because i always over feed and salt buildup doesn't just cause slow nutrient uptake, it screws your ph all over the place and makes it hard to control

I guess I should have clarified that it’s an organic grow and I don’t use salts I use dry amendments. So I can’t flush and runoff PH isn’t really gonna change

Use deminrized water to flush and ph your soil. It could be to high or to low so more like might make it worse you could add a small amount of Epson salt (mangnisum sulfate) to your water to give it a boost. (Teaspoon to 2 gallon of water) You can also spray it on the leaves directly.

I would ask what's the pH of the soil?

What's the temperature?

What's the lighting?

Then a npk test to see what is low and what is high. To.much can cause the same problem

Some discoloration of the leaves is normal.

humidity is in the 30s

temps 79-85 with lights on

light is a 600w HLG LED

I really need a soil PH tester but they’re so damn expensive.

Lol i'm growing organic peat based right now. I runoff every 3rd watering.

Whoops. Number 1 reason you're gonna wanna runoff? My peat based organic soil turned acidic in less than two months time. CHECK YOUR RUNOFF PH. Bet you you're in the low 5s.

What I did was repotted with fresh soil under, and around the existing root ball. It corrected the problem temporarily. I am going to be working in some Lime before they get repotted and thrown into flower.

Which dry fert do you use ?

I prefer Dr.Earth Flower girl all the way thru flower. I run no till soil blends , no bottles ever.

Just get some test strips out some soil in water mix it good and dip it in.(for hot tub) works in a pinch for a general idea.

The cheapo green test kit luster leaf soil kit works well for what it is. You can get it for all the testing it's cheap it works good enough for a general idea and at most garden stores locally.

I suspect the pH has gone to high with the lime throw some peat moss on the top and water it. Peat moss is 5.5 to 5.7 ph testing is the only sure way to know. I find it's rare for me to use lime I always have to ph down not up but testing to be sure as you can make it worse by blindly adding

I would avoid more lime unless you test your soil
bump your humidity to 40 percent a simple hair sprayer bottle on the walls of the grow tent is a cheap way to raise it. 40 to 45 percent is recommended for flowering

I find that peat moss rises in ph not decrease it depends on your water as it breaks down it becomes more neutral. I grow blueberrys ph keeps climbing up so I have to keep lowering it with more peat moss or sulfur. Which is why you have to ph test your soil. Plants can raise or lower the pH depending on the conditions.

Guys. I think the problem may be my ph meter is reading too high and I may be phing my water way too low because of it. Geez I hope not. I’m ordering a replacement now and I’m getting some distilled water tomorrow morning to read the PH

Nice catch. I didn't notice that he had the dolomite already in there. His deficiency is definitely different from mine. I'm gonna side with this rather than what I said. Respect.

Yeah my water is in the high 6s. My soil never had any lime in it. This is my first organic grow and I just grabbed what I could get during quarantine lol My soil slurry(rapitest) showed 7 range and then once my pots were full of roots, it was giving a low 5 reading. I pulled them all out, knocked as much as I could off, and gave them fresh coat 360 degrees. I'm going super/no till hopefully. I'm sold and I seriously cannot wait to brew sprout teas lol

It had dolomite initially but it had been in that soil for three months already so it should have been depleted by then.

Depending on the brand, they can be recalibrated in a solution.

Best way to test it is with your up and down. The bottle should tell you the ph
