@insert username You can't run 6 3070s on an HLG-185.
And if you go the 3070 route, just get the Moduled 9980 from CDI, like I originally recommended when you were talking Citizen/Vero/3070.
@welight did you ever test the 9980 with the 3070? I'd love to know how it did. Seems like a perfect fit, and I just saw a video with you running the 3590 on one. Not sure if he would need the Xtra version, since the 9980 is drilled for Zhaga it looks like, but sold as a Citizen heatsink.

actually the correct price for these is AUD29.95, less the RIU discount, the non drilled and tapped are AUD41, so actually around USD20.00 and the lastest rev will have all the holes tapped, for 3070, vero etc

I see he would like to go a single bar, must be in Oz. and getting hold of 1m lengths isn't that easy to find here unlike in the USA.
I mentioned Fastron but these H42 heat sinks are extremely expensive (190AUD) Per Metre, and they weigh in at a hefty 10Kg per metre. I've made 4 bars with these and it took many hours of drilling and tapping carefully.
I still can't tell you much about performance as I haven't done a run with them yet, finishing up one and then they'll be up and running.
Initial testing over 6 hours resulted in HS temps of 47c behind the cob without fans and 28c with fans ambient temp of around 26c
So not a cheap option as such but happy so far with the temps. of HS, still need to thermocouple the tsp but haven't gotten around to is... GG is so right when he say's without doing this we are basically pissing in the wind with knowing our COB temps.

Also what. Driver shud I use for 4xcxb 3590 and can they be put on a iceled 550 for a replacement to. The pin fin sinks. This is for a 2.5x2.5 area

ya'll need to use water cooling and stop spending wasting so much on shipping aluminum all over the world... if i wanted a aluminum heat sink i would just go to a junk yard and take off a car cylinder head and attach my cobs to the perfectly flat head...probably going to run you $5....go get your tools out... that's my $0.02....

trust me i have a 6 banger Mercedes head sitting there... I've been debating on rebuilding the engine or using the head for this. it has to be at least 10 kilos of aluminum there, LOLz... Heck ya i want to see somebody do that with any heads would be cool!

@ScaryGaryLed You know what's just as cheap as a CPU cooler and no name Chinese cob off Amazon? A proper cob with datasheets from a major manufacturer and a heatsink actually designed to cool it.

they are cobs and just need decent to adequate cooling. and a CPU cooler work great! and it's cheap!
Elegant design, efficient thermal management and the newest coolest components makes a lot of us that much more excited to walk into our grow rooms.
As far as things that cause me nausea, fire hazard lights and anemic bag seed grows are high on my list. I apologize that this comment is probably meanest thing I've written on these pages. But your comments undermine everything that I'm about.

No harm done, we just do things differently. I understand there is a Ferrari for one and there is a Toyota for another. I'll take the toyota anytime, i just know it's going to work and not cost an arm and a leg.
If i had endless pockets, I wouldn't even bother posting anything. I would have just gone to the local weed shop and bought some weed. what you do is it like that to me. I've seen all your videos and watched them. they are great and the information is good. But some of us folks aint going to drop thousands and thousand into your light setups. it's seem pointless when the sun is always brighter, or using a 1000w hps is just much cheaper.
No offense your lights are neat and pretty effective, but just not my cup of tea, i'm not the one to fit into your cookie cutter and hope never to be.

Those laser cut adapter plates what else will they screw onto? Only the led 450/550 or will. They fit other sinks. I was also wondering fo the 72 v chips require larger driver for 4 coz I would like the dimming option or the option to overdrive for hard lumensYes this is the 450 with a COB and holder on the laser cut adapter plate

yes the plates can really be bolted to anything including a Chevy Big Block, if anyone is so inclined. the two mounting holes are on a 58mm pitch so could be used on any suitable material that is capable of dissipating whatever you want to drive your leds at, the idea with the Iceleds was to keep the form factor as small as possible. Re the 72V the only issue you have is to ensure the driver has adequate voltage head ie 288 volts at 700ma if you want 50 watts per led

ok that makes alot of sense now. I thnk ill either use 1400ma or 1800 ma with 4x cxb 3590 36v . Am thnkingnof putting a order on for a lgsu 185/200w or if hlg-185 would be better then ill try find one of those
