Have any of you done Custom Hybrids

Hey so I’ve got the following fem seeds:
Wedding Cake
Super Silver Haze
Skywalker OG
The Cheese

Was thinking of ordering some non-fem seeds to produce a male and then crossing it with one of the above to get some of my own crosses.

Have any of you ever done this? How did it come out? Would love some good stories!

If you breed two stable lines together you get Hybrid vigor.
Mix two hybrids together and you get a big question mark.
The variety of genes that could show are unpredictable.
But...
If you are just making crosses to try and grow yourself, why not?
I have had quite a few 'happy accidents' where exceptional plants resulted from unplanned crosses.
If you want to be able to limit your phenos to a chooseable amount, stick to stabilized lines to cross. I mean, if you want your plant to resemble a parent. Find something to cross with the Super Silver Haze. Get ya a quick indica to cross it with.
If you don't care, and you're just looking for whatever shows, get something that breeds strong and zap the others. Cheese might be partially stabile..... :)

SSH being stable makes sense, old hybrid. You suggesting using a landrace with it?

Don’t know how much it matters but all the seeds are MSNL

Two goals really, fun being the primary goal, secondary would be not spending another $150 on seeds , then again I’ve got 20+ seeds left soooo not sure how I’m going to use them all at this point given I do “big plants” as opposed to smaller ones. That’s like 5+lbs of grass.

Afghani, Pakistani, or Hindu kush.
Offset the long period of the SSH with the 7 weeks of the indica.
You could literally have years of surprising seeds from one cross.
The Haze will bring out the flavors of the indica.
You will get a handful of phenos to choose from, but probably various terpene blends.
You could make a valuable, and fun, project out of it, and end up with a 8 week Haze. Or a fruity plant with an Indica stature.
or a mix...
It'll be all yours, whatever you find, and something you can share.

Headie Gardens still has some of Dominions work with the G13 hashplant for 75$.
If it's a cross for you, their work gives me stable afghanica traits.

I’m honestly still pretty new here (and to growing weed in general, first grow ever is below, just flipped them Saturday). Just learning as I go. I’ll continue to read up but also just wanted to spitball with folks about what works, sorta works, and probably doesn’t work. This has been a lot of fun and I’m trying to get to know people here and have a community. Growing weed is more fun with friends. :)

Hopefully, I will soon welcome you into the cannabis revolution, where we breed variety back into the Green Mother.

I was just messing with you. But yeah lots of people chuck pollen and make crosses. Give it a try. It's not difficult. Good luck.

There was a time when most families had a veggie garden and bred their own vegetables to suit them better.
Simple selection. Pick what you like and breed them together.
Same way we breed cannabis.
But we have more info now, so we can do EXACTLY what we want, without rude surprises.

I actually really want to try a landrace.

So they’re nothing special (40 watt draw each) but the p300 adv. platinum led I had from several years ago (I grow tomatoes) had a really uneven PAR map, so I supplemented those. I liked how skinny they were and that they also had IR. See below:

I have a new SQ300W Pro from Photontek coming this week in the mail to replace the p300 (which will become my veg light). Will also bring my watts up to 475 in a 3x3, so a lot of power there (currently 350 from the wall).

A landrace indica is easier to find, Ace has pakistani chitral. the one Biogen stabilized.
