Harvesting Pollen Question

We all know that when a female plant is pollinated THC levels are compromised.
When only one or two female flowers on a branch are pollinated, does that only effect that one branch branch or the whole plant with respect to THC levels?

In general, is there a rule of thumb for just how much THC is compromised when an entire female plant is pollinated?

I normally make some seeds when I get a hold of a real good strain. In the past, I have just pollinated the whole plant. That makes more seeds than I would use in a lifetime. I would like to try pollinating just a branch if the rest of the plant would be usable.

I only pollinate on 2 flower clusters. I manually apply the pollen. I get enough seeds to grow several crops and have not noticed any decrease in potency.

Great question, I am doing this right now. How long does it take for the plants to produce pollen when spraying? I want seeds so I bought some colloidal silver and diluted it down to 50ppm, I just started spraying a clone I transplanted and put it in with other plants flowering. My plan is to keep it in there until the pollen is almost ready, then move the plant out of there into another small closet to finish, I dont want to pollinate the other plants.

Also I am using clones from the same plant, for pollen and then to pollinate another, will the THC % be lower than if I used 2 plants from seed?20190710_125659.jpg 20190710_125713.jpg 20190710_125729.jpg

If you are growing for seed just grow for seed. If the bud isn’t as potent as you want as flower then blast it or press it. You’re just doing it one time. Suggest using silver thiosulfate instead of colloidal silver. Much easier.

I have pollinated entire plants, just branches, multiple branches with pollen from different males, etc... I haven't noticed a decrease in THC. I get just as stoned from the weed after picking the seeds out than I do from the same strain that wasn't pollinated. If there is a difference I can't tell. If anything there have been several instances where I felt the high was better from the seeded weed. I just laugh when people rip up a plant when they find a banana or the start of a few seeds. Some act like seeds ruin the weed. Pick them out and smoke. But I also laugh at most of the stuff I read on this site and other cannabis forums.

Stoner science isn't science at all. It's just nonsense someone started and people started believing. I do things that many say you can't and I grow better weed than they do. There is so much misinformation out there that a new grower has the odds stacked against them. I'm fortunate to have been growing plants since before I was in grade school. I apply the same methods to cannabis and ignore all the garbage out there much of it coming from nutrient companies to get you to buy more product.

Now that my rant is over back to your post. I do not believe that THC is compromised by a plant being pollinated. But if you don't want an entire seeded plant then just pollinate a branch or two. Either way you don't compromise the THC levels. I'm sure many will disagree but I don't care what someones buddy told them. I'm going off of personal experience. Even if there is a difference it's so minimal as to not even be a concern. And that's the only thing I know is true. Not some rumor on the internet about pollinated weed being less potent. And no I haven't had any testing done because I don't care. I can guarantee that the jars of seeded weed I have on my shelf right now will get anyone plenty good and high.

That is an excellent comment because all that matters is whether it works and what the results are.

I remember weed from the 60s. I admit to being old enough to remember. As far as I know there was no such thing as seedless weed. So, I would guess that a female with seeds would be at least as potent as weed in the 60s.
The other thing I would think is if pollination occurs, perhaps 6 weeks into the flowering cycle, that whatever THC had been produced to that point would not be destroyed.

I may just go ahead and seed out the whole plant. It is ashamed there is no safe way to give away surplus seeds.

That would explain all the old hippies who love seeded weed, and all the people who have bagseed from weed that gave em an awesome high. If seeds lowered the potency then wouldn't it have sucked?

I tend to lean that it doesn't effect potentcy as well. If it does, it is a small %. I've seen certain strains that quit stacking after getting pollinated too, could very well be strain dependant.
