I cut 1st thing in the morning when the lights come on.
Trim leaves and hang in a cool dark place with a fan for air circ
Come back in 5 days to see how dry they are, bend stem, if it just bends wait another day or two, if it cracks then its ready to get put into jars for curing. I cure for a few months but most will say a week or two and they are ready.

Prior to chopping I keep mine in complete darkness for 24 hours. Then prior to actual chopping I remove all the large fan leaves and leaves coming from petioles. I hang upside down in a portable closet I have that has holes in it so ventilation does get in and in complete darkness where the hanger line ends have tanglefoot. I monitor the temperatures that they do not fall or exceed this range 65-75 degrees and the humidity I would like it 40-50 RH. After several days I place the manicured plants in bags for several days always checking for mold and other possible issues. I then finally make the tedious job of trimming then if the stems snap then I place them in jars for up to two weeks bleeding the jars about 2-3 times daily. Hope this helps and best of luck.

the point of the fan is to speed up the drying process. if you leave it on high enough it will make the buds dry alot faster than normal like with that guys harvest box. the slower you let them dry the better they are going to taste though. so it depends on how much time you have

I read a lot of stuff on harvesting before I cut my first girl down, and here's what I learned. Wether it's nonsense or not, it worked out good for me. Plants do all their work at night after storing up the suns energy all day. All the chemicals and sugars and stuff come out of the roots and travel up into the plant at night. When the sun comes up in the morning, everything goes back into the roots. So I always cut the whole thing down right at the base, and right before the lights come on, trapping all the good stuff in the plant. This makes sense to me because even after you cut it down, the plant doesn't know it's been cut and is still continues to process the sugars and whatever else it does. After cutting it down, I hang it upside down and completely manicure it. I hang it upside down because it's easier to clean that way, and for that reason only. Keep your dry space cool(inthe 70's) and keep the humidity down. I have a fan circulate the air, but not blowing directly on the plant. You don't want to dry it out too fast. When the stems break, not bend, cut the buds off and cure them. I've heard the longer you cure the better, but I cure mine for a month or so. Like I said before, this is just how I do it and it worked perfectly every time. Good Luck

When i get round to cure how long do you burp for? is it a case of a few days or are we talking weeks?

What do you mean by "Burp" my man? You mean opening the lids and fluffing up the buds? If that's what you mean by "burp" I usually just leave the lid off for an hour or so a day. That's plenty of time for the unwanted gases to escape, especially because you're not gonna have the buds packed real tight inside their containers anyway. I try not to touch the buds too much either, you don't want to crush the capitated tricombs any more than they already get crushed inside the containers. If "Burp" means something else, let me know and I'll try to help. Peace

by burping i mean squeezing the air out of the container.

What i need to know is....can i cure in plastic tupperware? and do you just leave the lid of for a bit or burp as i call it?

EDIT: And if i am curing for a month do i bleed/burp everyday?

this guys got the right idea, i do all the same except when i am ready to harvest i let the plants sit in complete darkness for 2 days to trick the plant into thinking it is dieing and convert the rest of the sugars into THC, making a stronger bud

MisterNiceGuy has a good idea for all you indoor growers, about keeping the lights out for 48 hours before chopping. For all outdoor people(like me 90% of the time) you won't have that option so I suggest cutting right before "sun-up". As for curing in tupperware, you should not have a problem. I have done it in tupperware and in ball jars(glass jars w/metal lids) and I didn't see a difference. Yes, you will want to open them every day for an hour or so. If they start to smell a little moldy leave them open for a while longer. I actually like the tupperware better myself for a few reasons. One, you can get yourself a couple nice size ones and fit more into them. Two, if you get good ones, I think the seal is as good if not better than the rubber seals on the ball jars that tend to dry out after a while. Three, if you happen to get all stoned out and drop one it won't break and get small pieces of glass all in your smoke. And last, but not least, you really don't want to handle your buds too much. With the tupperware you can just take the lid off and toss the buds gently right in the container without ever having to put a finger on them. With the jars it's harder to get the buds in and out without roughing them up. Hope this helps.

Got a question, what's the consensus for how long to hold off on feedings just prior to harvest? This is regarding indoor hydro, by the way. I've seen some people stop feeding a week before harvest. Is that too long or too little?

If I'm storing for a few months do i carry on doing the above?

and yes very helpful Thanks
