Want the weed from your plants to be at its best? The final steps to a smokeable product is as important as the first steps of planting and growing your marijuana plant.
When to Harvest
There are three ways of judging if a plant is rady or not. Det most common way is to look at the pistils, when a plant is getting mature the pistils turn red and shrivle up. Some people harvest when aprox 75% of the pistils have turned red, at this point the high of the weed is more uplifting. Other people wait until 85-90% are red to get maximal strength. Some people dont harvest until all pistils are covered by a calyx for maximized amount of grams, however this can lower the level of THC and increase risk of mold.
The best way to judge if the plant is ready or not is by looking at the trichomes. Take a microscope and have a look at these beatuiful “crystal-shrooms”, its in the “heads” of these shrooms that most of the plants THC is produced. The trichoms mature in four steps, they “rise”, grow “heads”, the “heads” swell and finally the “heads” change color from milky white to a orange like color. When the thrichome heads change color to orange the THC level is starting to decrease. The best time to harvest is just before they change color, thats when the plant reaches her peak.
