Harvest Questions

I am close to harvest and was hoping someone can confirm or deny what I am about to say

I have flushed each baby with a gallon of clearex flush 2x now and will do another 1 or 2 flushes 2 days apart then
no water and 48 hours of total dark before I chop , mannicure and hang to dry in my tent for 3-5 days or until the stalks snap and not bend then
into mason jars to burp and sleep until I call upon them...

Any other ideas for Pre-harvest to-do's

get a hygrometer and draw that last bit of moisture out of your buds the right way. dont guess. put it right in the jar. your buds are beautiful.

I do brown bags in between hanging and jarring....hang til crispy on out side(fuck the stem)...brown bag sealed.for 12 hours....hang again til crispy again...back to brown bag...do this for two days before jarring...then just open n Closle the jar maybe taking them out n lookin at em to air em out the fist day or two then ull figure the process out....I get a perfect cure(for my liking) every time...dry but not too dry...crumbly

Going by the stems never works for me either.. Maybe my humidity is off, don't know.. I do like you feel the outside of buds.

Yes....in 70° temps my smaller.to medium buds take 3days usually...bigger tops 4-5 days....then bag process for two days then jars....

This is more of "post harvest" suggestion but how about keeping a trophy of your first grow. Something to remember her(s) when the bud is all smoked up :bigjoint:

ChemDog-Stem.jpg

I took this pic this morning and if you go to my ChemDog link in my sig you should recognize the stem and even the lighter. I still haven't figured what to do with it yet, maybe a mount in it on a plaque or something

So when I chopped my first harvest I made sure I made cuts in spots where I could keep this little trophy of my successful first grow.

Cheers

I used the brown paper bag approach with my first crop too. It seemed to work fine.

Great work OP!

Next time skip the flushing, it stresses your plant and does not do anything for flavor and smell.

I don't flush either.. Don't feel you need to if you fed the plant properly by giving it what it actually needed in the amounts needed instead of just seeing how high you can get the ppms without burning it up.

Hmmmmm...there did seem to be some logic to the action though...to reduce
the amount of sugars in the result. i.e. this is why harvesting right before
lights on is recommended, because these sugars are still in the roots.

Anyhoo, I cannot say one way or the other authoritatively, but I do think
that I will flush my grow. ...still open to listen to this hashed out by the
gray beards.

Take care,

JD

clearex has sugars in it.

Watering with plain water is fine in soil as long as the soil has available nutrients for the plant.
Flushing to remove nutrients from the soil is counter productive.

That's cause most of those books were either written or based off of what was written yrs ago.. The quality of nutes has come a long way since then, and new things are learned all the time.
If you were to go back just 10 yrs and tell the growers things thats being done now, they would tell you you're crazy. Hell, at 1 time they would have told you hydro was crazy.
