Guys, my tent still smells with carbon scrubber..

It is in middle of veg, and i can easily smell it when I walk past the room. i can't imagine what it will be like in flowering

I have a decent inline fan, the S&P TD-100x which is 100cfm~, which should be enough to pull all the air from my Secret Jardin DR80 with two plants.

My carbon scrubber is a DYI i made with 2 pencil cups, looks like this:


It is connected to the inline fan, which sits outside the tent (So, air is sucked out through the inlinefan/carbonscrubber which is at the end). I thought there might have been a leak in the venting, so I replaced everything but it still smells

Any suggestions? Is it ok that all the air is pulled from the side of the air cooled reflector (the side without venting)? Should I be venting that side too and bringing it closer to the plants or something?

Sounds like you need to reverse your setup. Create negative pressure in the tent with the air being drawn through the carbon filter first...something like ....(from inside tent to outside)>>>>Carbonfilter==>light>==>fan>>==exit out tent

Idk if that makes any sense? Or maybe i read your question wrong.

100 cfm isnt very powerful and its hard to suck air thru carbon.Can you boost up your fan or add more of the same units.Test how much the filter restricts your fan.

it is 135cfm. shouldn't that be enough for a 32.4" wide x 32.4" deep x 63.6tall tent ?

nope filter and fan are to small i say 300 cfm and a 6x 12 filter as the least and make sure you pull the air through the filter rather then push it

U need at least a 150 cdma fan. And if that foes help just by a regular carbon filter. I recommend phresh

get a real filter...

negative pressure like dude said above. My tent has air pulled through the filter and out the tent causing negative pressure which pulls outside air in through the passive flaps. You also ma need to invest in a store bought filter. I use an HTG combo filter/4" inline and it will scrub the smell of 10 plants easily.

Setup similar to this if you can. I sleep in this room and there is zero smell even with 15 plants in my flower room which is right next to this using a 6'inline/filter combo from HTG

The DIY filter you have isnt gonna work good. Get a real store bought one. The DIY ones have gaps in them where the air seeps in and doesnt get scrubbed

So, would you guys say this carbon filter will work a tent that is 3 ft x 3 ft x 6 ft ?

Cool, i'm thinking about getting that filter, except its 4". Do you think it would be ok to have the inline fan outside of the tent tho? Pulling all the air through the carbon filter? What size of tent is that btw?

I have a 3 X 4 X 6 inside cab, with a similar Pfresh brand carbon filter,and it works great.

The only difference is that I run 190 cfm fan. I just replaced it after a year or so of use.

wrong kind of carbon. if you buy a real carbon filter it will work like nothing you've ever seen. VERY powerful.

to truely test, you must let the area saturate with stank, so you can tell it works. after 5 min, every smell will be gone.

Weird question guys, but can you use the insulated ducting without the insulation? in other words just using the plastic ducting in the middle and cutting out all the insulation

Yeah that one your looking at is the same one I have and I have it hooked up to a 170cfm fan. Works great, I think you'll be fine with 135cfm just don't make your ducting to long. The longer the ducting, the more CFM you'll lose. My tent is 4'x4'x6'

Whatever fits on there bro, ducting a small filter/fan is cake

DO you think it would be OK to use 4" ducting with 6" inline fan? The holes in my tent are 5"......... really annoying

I still don't know if i should get a 6" or 4" carbon filter

You have a 6". But my tent is a little smaller and it's hard to fit ducting on both sides of the reflector..

@zizou it would be ok, but you will lose some cfm, just counter act that by buying a larger fan. Also check out htg supply, they have 6" couplers which you can cut a hole in the side and install a 6" flange...very easy and a great product
