Gumballs CMH Powered PC

There are cmhs with not mogul base, but G12 base (something like two pins) that are for shop spots etc. Those common have uv-block. I have read that plants need the uv a lot. UV helps buds to be more frosty (yum yumm).. Dont know guys. Maybe i have to design the box so i can start with cfls and later change to cmh. But yeah, budget is very low to trying different things at the moment.
Only the 250W and 400W are the big mogul base. My 150W and 70W are a normal socket like a cfl uses. Glass blocks a lot of that UV too. Plan for one socket to move from a 110v plug, to the ballast later. If heat can hold keep some cfl's. Hope that helps.

Many thanks guys for the infos and suggestions. I checked your box Easy420forme. Nice work! I will keep an eye on it.
Tomorrow i discover thread subscriptions also :P
I will go to get some cfls to start with and run some days, and see what will happen. :)

Here ya go

https://www.rollitup.org/groups/cmh-club.html

You can also click community at the top and it will drop down and give a link for groups. Once you subscribe to a group they will show up first on this page. I think a 150 would be good in your space too, and you may not even need a heat shield. I will give a better guess when you put all your CFLs in there, if your interested.

Does that 150 screw right into a standard light outlet?

They produce 9,000 lumnes??? holy crap. I bet you get some kick ass yield.

yep, right into an e26 medium (thats a standard outlet size) outlet
wait, wait, wait just a minute. Gumball,
you meant there is a cmh bulb that will run on 110v standard socket? is that what i'm reading? not gonna wait for a response, lol gonna go and recheck the bulbs from your link in the cmh club

nope, sorry my friend. i didnt mean it would run on the 110v power outlet. Only the standard socket which we all have in our houses. but i would only use the ceramic outlets rated at the wattage or higher of the bulb in use. you still need a ballast to run the CMH. sorry for any confusion i may have caused.

and don't they run quite a bit hotter than the cheap CFLs?

I saw a Sylvania MH 100W and HPS 100W that fit into a medium outlet at Lowes today. You think they need a ballast? I have to look that up, but I am sure they get quite a bit hotter than the CFLs?

yeah, got that part figured out, so is it the pulse start ballast on those also or can you use the hps?
thought I was gonna get away with out using a ballast, lol

under 150 watt is pulse start metal halide ballast. 250 & 400 are HPS retro, so you can use HPS or CMH. i wish the lower watts were the same.

they need a ballast too. the CMH is a few degrees warmer than CFL, and a few degrees cooler than the MH and HPS. but remember the ballast on the HID lighting also generates heat and uses either 15 or 30 percent more power than the bulb itself. so a 100 watt HID has a ballast that uses either 15 or 30 watts. all this must be contended with as it could mess up stealth or add heat. always something to consider!!!

Oops. I threw a wrench in the gears by not explaining that more clearly. Sorry GB, but I see you've covered the rest. I just mean get a e26 ( I forgot the ###) to where you 'would' put the CMH, then re-wire to ballast later. They have high temp black and white wires for safety too.
Cool Beans, you'll love one when you can upgrade.

Cool gum, I'm here for the long run :) could you please post a few pics of the tower from a few angles? What are the dimensions?

As soon as I find a cheap tower I'm joining the club but only cfl for a while

It seemed to work OK, but it messes with the Soil pH. After the cal/mag issue I haven't used it again yet. I'll use a 25% dose next time too. it's pH is 11 I think. My pH is 7.4 with the Jack's, but my test kit is mediocre. I don't test that stuff nearly as I should, I guess. Looking forward to the peek under some skirts later.

Ok, thanks. I am sticking to only Dyna-gro nutes, and from my understanding they maintain ph much better than most ferts out there, when used together. Not saying jacks is a problem or bad, but you know how mixing nutes can act. I want to use it by itself first, cause my next feeding will be watering after next. The bottle reads to only use with a complete nute solution, so I think just with water may be bad as well, but I will ask riddleme his thoughts on that since he uses it too. Thanks for the response, and pics in a few hours!!
